The night came over me quickly, While I opened the door for the cat. The stars began to dance swiftly, The balcony became filled with bluebirds. I had never seen bluebirds at night before, I suppose this will be the first time. They sang as if it was morning though, And it changed my mind. I can only picture the tunnels you ran through, That time we ran away. I still wonder why I chose the river, And where your journey ended. I smiled when we split our ways, "I suppose this will be the last time." I guess it had to be this way though, And it changed my mind. The daylight serves as a reminder, The Memories of horseback rides beside the mountains. Why'd we have to jump the wall, The dogs didn't seem to like it very much. I hope we shared the same amazing rush, I suppose this will be the only time. We loved and laughed like children then, And it changed my mind. Now I sit and wait on this rock, As the wolves howl their songs of victory. The trees whisper and dance, But your name continues to elude the wind. I wonder when I'll see you again, I suppose this is a waste of time. But you were like nobody else, and it changed my mind. Oct. 21, '03.
