SYREN is Vancouver Islands own Melody Benbow and Fae Wiedenhoeft. These
gifted vocalists have been wending their way into the Celtic folk scene as a duo since
1998 when they met as members of "A Song for Ireland." Fae and Melody together
create a rich and seamless vocal blend that is rivaled only by rare sibling
harmonies. Melody and Fae come to their collaboration and their repertoir as though
they were born to it. Accompanying themselves with guitar and traditional percussion, the
women of SYREN bring a delightful and challenging range of song from Old Scots jigs and
reels, to mystical Irish love songs, to passionate ballads of their own composition.
Hearing the Syren song is an enchanting experience and a musical must for fans of
traditional Celtic music!
SYREN enjoyed a successful pre-release of their CD "WAVES TO THE SKY" late in 1999. This exciting recording well demonstrates the vocal range, skill, and Celtic passion of these two lovely singers. This entertaining disc contains songs from both the Irish and Scottish female vocal traditions as well as jewels from the original compositions of SYREN members and musical friends. Look for the SYREN CD "WAVES TO THE SKY" at live performances and record stores in the Greater Victoria Area.

The Ladies of Syren have embarked
on yet another musical adventure. Singing with their sisters Artemis and Lazarus, the
studio production of Cauldron was formed. The sound of Cauldron is an epic fusion of
genres and influence in the celtic/medieval vein. The spirit of Cauldron is the liberated
enjoyment of music and freedom in collaboration! It is a celebration of the goddesses
within, and of each other.
