This page is my Sept. 11 memorial page. I know how sick everyone is of the pictures of the towers burning (isn't it scary that we can get used to something like that?). But to me, images are pretty powerful stuff, and can be more eloquent than anything I can come up with. All these photos were taken in the days immediately after the attacks.

Let it be said that I never really agreed with the "We are all American" stuff that was floating around after the attacks, or all the patriotism. What's beautiful to me about these pictures is just the plain human emotion in them. That's what unites us, what transcends national boundaries, and heals pain like what we all went through. I wish this was what lasted after the attacks--not President Bush's war cries.

Soccer game in Germany: Schalke 04's coach and assistant can't take it anymore. The UEFA order them to play, but for 75 of the 90 minutes of play, both teams played as if they were engaged in an active demonstration against UEFA's order to play on.
