I've finally gotten over the demise of "Enterprise" and
moved my loyalties to "Battlestar
Galactica." Not the Loren
Greene original (though I do have the DVD box) but, the new one. You need to watch it from the beginning
to "get it." It's really,
really good. (I'm moving back into
my parent's basement).
My profile and picture are featured
amongst some of the programmers on the Roots
Music Report website.
Where in the heck is the new season
of "Curb Your Enthusiasm"? Larry, come on man!
And speaking of a total lack of
patience, where in the heck is the third season of "Deadwood" already? Could this show get any better? Who knew that the Dakota territories were
the training grounds for truckers, stevedores, and sailors? These men (and Calamity Jane) can really
swear up a blue streak. If you are a
number cruncher and/or bean counter AND Deadwood freak, click here. This is dramatic TV. at its best.
I
think I am officially a kid again.
MySpace for the "fortysomething"
crowd. Cheesh,
it used to be that I wanted to have Hope and Michael's life, a friend like
Elliot and an office with a basketball hoop. Instead, I live near Elliot's real-life
brother, have basketball at work, and don't wanna
be thirtysomething (except maybe for the DVD boxset). I am
all about "MySpace." MySpace.
The ever-changing Wilco
is back on the road and they are blistering live. Somehow they can mix every type of music
with a fair amount of dissonant noise and still sound incredible. They may, quite simply, be the best band
in America,
right now.
Sacramento's Jackie Greene is now on a major
label (Verve Forecast). He writes a
catchy, bluesy pop song and can play guitar, harp, and keyboards like a
pro. This guy is just a kid but well
worth for his CD.
My own personal tribute to "The
Thirsty Traveler." Try California's awesome
infused Charbay vodkas. Also two picks from a recent trip to Canada: Iceberg
Vodka and Sleeman's
beer. And don't forget to try the poutine.
Vin
Scelsa is back on the web.
And speaking of great new radio on the web, I really like "The Current" in tiny Northfield, Minnesota,
and my old friend Mike Olson has KFJM back on dry ground and doing his
usual excellent mix.
There is always lots of new music being released and
cool stuff popping up here and there.
