Note: In saying that it took up much of my time, I am neither trying to appear as a hero nor complaining. I was happy
to do it and it was an enjoyable exercise. Annika kindly said that I helped keep her together during this stressful time,
but to me it felt more to be the other way around. In addition, the program committee members and many other people
also made valuable contributions. I certainly could have not done this alone. Thank you.
I have borrowed a few favourite pics from the LUCF website. Others may be viewed by clicking
here.
One day this link will lead to the presentation's script on-line -- but not yet.

Cambrian Players
"The Hound of the Baskervilles" will be presented by Cambrian Players Nov. 15-20
at the Bora Laskin Theatre (L.U.'s Faculty of Education). I play John Barrymore the (bearded) butler who may or may not have "done it". Come out and see.
Fort Wm Gardens
Oct. 08/04
On Thanksgiving Monday (the last day they are open to the public) we visited Fort William Historical Park. I've been there many times before, but this was different because there were so few visitors or staff. This allowed me to be more adventurous. However, my visit to the ladies washroom that day was by mistake. Perhaps I was thinking that the sign would convey Gents in the eyes of Fort William's Scottish partners and agents.
We had lunch there in the cantine. Good thing, too: I was getting hungry.

(Note that 175 lbs is my "playing weight". I'm a bit over that right now.)
Wednesday, Oct. 13 CBC Radio One's "The Great Northwest" kindly aired my erroneous entry to their famous Ontarians contest. I think Lisa Laco described it as a "gem", but it was 0630hrs and I was half awake and not expecting it, as the contest closed the day before. It was a parody of John Prine's "Dear Abby" called "Deere, John", but I have misplaced the lyrics at this point.
Thursday, Oct. 28 Robin Harbron got some from tickets from his workplace (TBaytel) for "Lunch at Allen's" (Ian Thomas, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Murray McLaughlin) at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. It could be described as a prepared songwriters "workshop", that is, each would take a turn playing his/her song (on guitar or piano) and the others would accompany. For a stalled-songwriter such as myself, it was inspiring. Afterwards, I hung around and was photographed with "the band". See my celebs photo page.
Saturday, Oct. 30 Robin and I led some "choruses" (but one of them also had verses with the chorus) for the Lakehead Baptist Men's Breakfast. We also sang for them the song "40" which I introduced as being written by "some Irish millionaires". Afterwards, when Robin asked the crowd (most of whom were older than me) if anyone recognized who the songwriters were, a younger man answered (correctly) "U2". But, of course, most of the others may have thought that he was referring to Robin and me. I am Rich, but I'm not Irish.
