TECHNICAL

Where can I get the right plug-ins or players?
You can find free downloads for both the Windows Media Player and the WinAmp Music Player on our "Listen Now" page.

How can I determine if I already have the Windows Media Player or WinAmp Player?
Go to your Start Menu, select Programs, select Accessories and finally select Entertainment. If you have the Windows Media Player or WinAmp Player it will be displayed here. If you don't see it, you will need to download the player.

Why can't I hear any music?
There WILL BE A BRIEF DELAY the first time you hit play. The music will "Buffer" and then start playing. If you still don't hear any sound then we suggest downloading and installing the Windows Media Player even if it's already installed. You may opt to download and use the WinAmp player instead. Another possibility is that you could be behind a firewall, which is not permitting you to stream Windows Media content. If that is the case unfortunately you will be unable to listen to ReggaePlus Radio. You may opt to download and use the WinAmp player instead.

There are a lot of pauses and the player says "Buffering." What's wrong?
The player is most likely experiencing network congestion, meaning there is not enough available bandwidth to stream the selected file. When using a TCP connection, the data in the player's buffer will be used to supplement the stream until the buffer is depleted. Once the buffered data is gone, the player will pause, replenish the buffer, and resume playing, using this new buffer to supplement the playback stream bandwidth. This cycle will continue until network conditions improve. Try again when the network is less congested, perhaps in a half hour or so.

How can I use Netscape to listen to ReggaePlus Radio?
You need to have the Netscape Navigator plug-in that is automatically installed with the Windows Media Player. The plug-in, Npdsplay.dll, is copied to the "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player" folder during setup. If this file is present, the plug-in will have been installed for all detected Netscape Navigator installations. If you do not have the plug-in, you can reinstall Windows Media Player to install the plug-in. Once the player is installed, you may need to refresh your Web page.

How can I listen to ReggaePlus Radio on my Macintosh computer?
The minimum requirements for a Macintosh are: PowerPC Macintosh 601 processor or higher, System 7.6.1 or higher, Open Transport 1.1.2 or higher, QuickTime 3.0.2 or higher, 32 MB or more of RAM with 10 MB free for the Windows Media Player, 15 MB of free hard drive for install and 256-color display card or better.
The minimum requirements are for playing audio and video with a low frame rate (less than 4 frames per second). To play video files with a higher frame rate, please use the Recommended System requirements which are: PowerPC Macintosh, 180 MHz 603e processor or higher, MacOS 8 or higher, 16-bit color display.
Microsoft strongly recommends upgrading to MacOS 8 or later due to improvements in Open Transport. Microsoft also strongly recommends upgrading to Internet Explorer 5.0 To Download and Install the New Windows Media Player for Macintosh 6.3.

I am connecting from a business location and they are using a web Proxy. What should I do?
Shouldn't be going into non-work related sites!
Open the Windows Media Player. Click View, and then choose Options. In the Options dialog box, click the tab labeled Network. On the Network tab, choose Proxy Settings, highlight the MMS Protocol and then click the Configure button. On the Configure Protocol settings dialog box, verify that the Autodetect proxy setting is selected. If you already know that your Web browser is configured to use a Web proxy, select the option labeled Use browser proxy settings. Click OK to return to Network Option, Apply then OK to return to the Windows Media Player.

Why are you primarily supporting Windows Media Player?
Windows Media Player currently reaches the largest audience and is generally already installed on most Windows computers. Additionally the quality of a Windows Media file is higher than any other streaming media currently available. If there is a great demand for ReggaePlus Radio to support a different format we will make it available, like we have with the WinAmp Music Player.
