Muggle Studies: Meteorology Lesson Three

Mary-Kate waited for her class to show up and hoped that they all were ready for this next class lesson. She put on her winter cloak and waved her wand and the entire class room was enchanted by a winter storm.

"welcome back students,"
Mary-Kate said a few minutes later after they started piling into the classroom shivering from the cold.

"Today, as you've guessed it, we'll be learning about the natural disaster called 'winter or ice storms'. You may do whatever you wish during this lesson as long as you do pay attention to what I have to say."

Mary-Kate smiled and leaned up against her desk and began the lesson.

"A winter storm is a type of precipitation in which only occur at cold temperatures, such as snow or sleet, or a rainstorm where ground temperatures are cold enough to allow ice to form. In temperate continental climates, these storms are not restricted to the winter season, but may occur in the late autumn and early spring. A massive snowstorm with heavy winds is known as a blizzard."

Mary-Kate aimed at a black board with her wand and images started to appear

"this is a typical view of a winter storm."

"here is a part of the muggle world coated in ice, power and telephone lines sag and often break, resulting in power outages."

"plants wrapped in 6mm (0.2inches) of ice. Severe ice storms, which may occur in the spring, can kill plant life."

"blizzards are characterized by high winds and blinding precipitation"

"sudden blizzards can cause terrible damage to infrastructure as well as danger to human life"

Mary-Kate aimed back at the black board and the images disappeared

"For the rest of the class you may have some free time and play in the snow. No assignment."

20 minutes later

"that will be all today, make sure you bring your swim suits for the next class! class is dismissed"
