Palo Alto
here i am with tommy and andy of palo alto. they were one of the opening acts for rooney september '03 at mississippi nights. there were really nice guys, hanging out with people during the concert. |

James
he's the lead singer for palo alto. i actually got to interview him via telephone for the slu paper. so yes, i do have his cell phone number...kinda cool, huh? but anyways, he's also a nice guy. made some funny jokes on the phone. he even offered to get me a drink after they performed, which i had to tactfully decline due to my lack of age, and the fact that the workers there are monsters. too bad my eyes are closed tho...oh well. oh yeah, and the song 'naked sorority girls' is not done by them. don't ask 'em. altho i find it to be an amusing song. palo alto website |

The guy from Rooney that no one recognizes...Matt ;)
it's so funny to see how no one pays attention to other members of bands besides the lead guys. twice i watched this guy walk around and no one cared...he blended right in. he was very quiet, so it was easy to look past him. i had to go up and approach him to say hi. i think he dyed his hair black...it looks kinda...off. |

Rooney's awesome guitarist Taylor Locke
he's such a skinny guy, but he really has some talent and skill. he was so much fun to watch and listen to. i think he's still going out with one of the girls from the Donnas. he was kinda hard to catch after the concert, retreating to the bus fairly early, but we got robert to help us. turns out he was happy to come back out...he just needed his after-show screwdriver ;) he's got pretty hair too :) |

One of the coolest drummers ever...Ned Brower
not to sound too silly or cliche, but he really was an inspiration for me. omg, listening to him and watching him play make me wanna get some drums so bad. i can't not help but bang on my steering wheel when listening to the cd. and in person-- he has got the coolest hair! i was a lil disappointed after the show tho he immediately went back and wet his hair. when it's all big and poofy and fro-ey, he whips it around and it looks so fun! ;) he was a cool guy. oh, and he does have film credits too, along with robert (check imdb.com). |

"The Popular One"...Robert Carmine(Schwartzman)
he's such a hammy-people person. he knows how to "handle" a crowd and "woo" the women. he's a good vocalist and plays the guitar as well. he was really fun to be around after the show...just hanging out with everyone outside...makin sure everyone's happy and has everything. he came around to us a second time after we got our pictures with him and talked to him a bit just make sure we were ok. that's when he helped us get taylor's attention. he doesn't like to be referred to as "the guy from the princess diaries" or just having people yelling out "princess diaries!". but he doesn't mind if you ask him about virgin suicides (prolly since that one has family ties (sophia coppola). his brother is jason schwartzman...the guy from rushmore and the first drummer for phantom planet. |

After-show pass
i was just hoping to stick around after to get to meet rooney (the first time). it was my first time to mississippi nights so i had no idea how impractical that idea is. those people there are so rude. however, i thought i found a loophole. if you bought their cd (for a cheap $10), then you got a pass to meet them afterwards. i already had a cd, but i couldn't pass up this op for an organized "meet and greet", or what we thought would be. immediatley after the show, miss. nights employees began pushing people out the door, regardless of us having passes. they claimed they new knew nothing of the sort, but we got snotty with them too. sarah and i were something like 4th and 5th in line. we got their signatures and they told us to stick around to the side for pictures. so we scooted off to the side and the employees started up again. we explained that they themselves told us to stick around-- they didn't care. we were shoved outside. we all waited. eventually they came out and we were satisfied. but i have to say, those workers are some of the most unpleasant and aggravating people ever just trying to get off on some power-trip. weirdos. |

Gavin DeGraw
gavin was supercool too ;) sarah and i went to see maroon5 last fall at the pageant and gavin was there too. we didn't really know who he was but when we heard him live, it was awesome. i decided to get his cd there. he sounds so different on cd, but it's still so unique. turns out he does the theme songs to a couple of WB shows. he hung around after as well to sign stuff and talk to people, so sarah and i were like, what the heck...he might turn popular...and we like him...so sure. we were right about this one too ;) |

Michael Buble (boo-blay)
this canadian knows his music. omg...he's also such a ham. he tells a lot of stories during his shows to keep you entertained, does a lil dancing and sings so smoothly. he's kinda like a younger harry connick jr. when he performs. i pressed my luck after the show, in the autumn drizzle, to try and meet him as well. i was supposed to be writing a review for the slu paper, but that fell thru (on their part...jerks). however, i still got to meet him. he invited me and sarah inside for a few minutes. we got pictures, told him the show was great. he asked how old i was, telling me i looked a lil young. i was taken aback. first of all, that's what people say to sarah-- not me. second of all...i was taller than him! and does he look like 25 or 26 to you...? nevertheless, sweet guy with serious talent! can't wait to see him when he comes back again...hopefully to jazz at the bistro. |
