This is a rationalhardcore album. The YDB's website

1) Political Swine
F# --- F# EG x3
A B
C# --- (hammeron/pulloff)
C# A B
– Went to Washington to pursue a life of crime. Back away and keep your hands off what’s mine! D@mn the drama! Not gonna get caught up in your sh!+… Went to Washington to pursue a life of crime. Back away and keep your hands off what’s mine! They’ll feed on anything… Political Swine!

2) Taxation is Theft
CCBDEDCGAB
CBCCBCBCB
A --- C
G --- D
A -- CGABD

– Taxation is theft! Taxation is theft! If you pay a tax, I’ll tell you what you do: It’s called “involuntary servitude”! Don’t try to tell me that it’s necessary. We’ll find a way to do it voluntarily, and in a way that won’t support slavery. They take your property at gunpoint! Freedom’s what you pay! Taxation is theft!

3) Gateway
CCCDDDC#C#C#BBB
A/BB/A D/EF F E C C
D C# D C#

– Gateway… There are other ways than this! What you need is experience! Education is what you make it! Protect your mind or they will take it! Don’t give them any time… Your money, your mind, you can’t afford it! The college institution is a fraud! Shun the campus, hold the bullsh!+… They should be closed down!!

4) N.C.A.A.
E D EE D
BBBB D A
GGGG AAAA

– The N.C.A.A. don’t know what they’re doing. For “injun pride”, it’s the best thing they had going! A respectable symbol, admit embellished a bit… No gauntlets or scalping; dance and they have a fit! Courage, honor, spirit, strength, and bravery… No more ‘cuz everyone’s loyal to the rad’ left wing! Last vestige of good sense and reason taken away: The action’s symbolic; expect leftist decay! I don’t wanna go to U of I… No more money from smart alumni!

5) Focus on Restitution
A DE x2
A A A A CCC GGG
AA CC DD E
C C D D
GG FF E

– Focus on restitution: What they took; give it back! Not statist incarceration. No, I’m talking tit for tat. You know, that’s how it used to be. They would make the victim whole. But now it’s all state-aggrandizing, propagandizing, dehumanizing effort to take it all! The legal cartel’s pockets swell, opportunity cost in a rotting cell, and for all the talk of “victims” he’s been forgotten! Forgotten! Forgotten! Focus on restitution.

6) You Have A Right To Life – Now you hear the call-up. They’ve come to hunt you down. “Thou shalt not murder”, these are the words to repeat aloud. Accept no imitation. Do not be led astray. Speak what’s right and fight for life. It gets worse here everyday, but you have a right to life. You have a right to life.

7) No Valid Excuse
EBGD (intro)
A --- CDC
A --- DCD
B F# E C#

– (You will) sit by and allow minds forged to misuse. And I will stand by exclaiming there is no valid excuse. No valid excuse! No valid excuse! State-sanctioned murder, you buy into their games. You take lives, take our world, for state-sanctioned aims! No valid excuse! No valid excuse! Something no Christian “soldier” would do. Individual, for murder there is no valid excuse. No valid excuse! No valid excuse! No valid excuse! No valid excuse!!

8) Star Scream 1 – (instrumental)

9) Prison Rape
Aa F# F# EDA#C(D)
F# A B CBCBAB
F# A B CBA F#

– Prison rape! Prison rape! Prison rape; no matter why you’re in, may still have to take it. Prison rape! Prison rape; not a legitimate punishment, so don’t mistake it. Prison rape! The rest of society casts a blind eye, yet it ranks with murder elsewhere! It’s an epidemic and you deny it! Yeah, you think you’re so fair… So you laugh and reinforce every joke on prison rape! Prison rape is not a legitimate punishment so don’t mistake it. Prison rape!!

10) Worse – (instrumental)

11) Ambition Room
(Jazz chords)
chorus: G F#
verse: E E D E

– I stand tall in the ambition room… I stand tall in the ambition room… I just decided this time that I’ve had enough. You think you’re saving the world, and now I’m calling your bluff. The ambition room is crowded by people like you, and when the scene is like this, you know it ought to be through! I’ve been testing the waters. It’s so P.C. as of late. You’ve no tolerance for clarity, thus no clear concept of “hate”. But you hate me, your “devil”, once the lone hardcore one. Now my dissent is acknowledged and I’m not on the run! I stand tall in the ambition room… I stand tall in the ambition room… The Laissez-Faire Volition is the art of reality. Breaks your gun-controlled tradition of force and brutality. With God as my witness and God as my only power, by lion, lake of fire, or by light be devoured! In your quest for knowledge, they’d fill your mind with anything. They’d pass the buck and sweep the fluff under the rug. I scream I can’t take anymore. The Truth is plain as the day. I won’t take anymore. Truth is, I’m too afraid to run away. I stand tall…

12) 48 – (instrumental)

13) Stop The Violence
AA ACC CDD DBCB
AA ACC CDD DB F
AA ACC CDD DBCB x 2
DE EDE EGG GEFE
DE EDE EGG GF
DE EDE EGG GEFE
DE EDE EG F E D

– I denounce aggression, but you display your passion. I speak out against violence and the fear it creates. Those same called “progressive” are an aggressive collective of left-wing statist thieves on a demographic chase. They lay it all to waste! The Left cites “non-violence” but propagates silence as their own hordes pillage with no good defense! I forgive you, since I understand ignorance. Some of us cling to that last shred of innocence… Non-Aggression is the way! Hey! Stop the violence! Stop the violence! Stop the violence!!

14) Destroy
C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C# E B
C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C#C# E F#
(above riffs sometimes in alternate rhythm)

– (You’re) satellites of the bogus industry. Reigning terrors of the governmonstrosity. Outward cage of the faux democracy. It’s not that these people have something to say… All lined up like dominoes… No voice when we fall! Such domination I cannot allow… Must break this fascade! So I destroy! Destroy the state! (This is an anti-violence song about rolling back government. Don’t be stupid.)

15) Star Scream 2 – (instrumental)

16) You Know I Was Here – You know I was here. You know what I’m doing. Got a rationalhardcore spear… Jab it into Leviathan! And I know what message I’ve been reaching for. You better hold on; this is the real hardcore! I got the Non-Aggression in my actions and my spirit! I got the P.M.A. and now you’re all gonna hear it! I got the fuzz & the fire! I got the gits and the wire! I got the mic and the beat! Make the evil retreat! Been writing now for about 10 years. Recording about 5. And it’s finally coming clear. It’s finally coming clear!

17) They’re Left Behind – They’re left behind in a haze exuded by the Leftist concept of “social justice”. For all they strive in heart, they fail in mind. Their imperfectionist sin: They’ll never hit the target. Their “social justice” isn’t Justice at all… No, it’s a glimpse of Hell! Surrounded and hounded by a circle of lies defined for the impossibility of Reason. A living hell to try a person’s core inside. Defy and suffer a circle of treason! It’s a glimpse of Hell!!

18) “Department Of _______” ?!?
A

– DEFENSE!!

19) Demon’s Eye – No decision. No decision. No decision. No decision. Here’s your cue card: Turn it off! Eye of the nation, I call your bluff! Open the door, what do you see? Zombified visions, T.V. sorcery! No decision. No decision. No decision. No decision. The T.V. taunts me even when it’s off! It’s a distorted window to a ruined world. Not the same as make-believe. Born to destroy your T.V. fantasy… No decision. No decision. No decision. No decision. A demon’s eye in your home. A window to your world. It’s the center of your room. Ever since, death’s flag is unfurled. Television again! An invention for fools!

I know I’m never wrong. Go send someone to find me? A.W.O.L. better run… You won’t inspire violence in me. I lead by example and you’ll never make me… Fight!! F### the Army! I walk against the wind, against every person who chooses war over negotiation. But I aim to survive and to take you all with me. It’s all individual action!

Stop kidding yourself…

You like being part of their scheme Another pawn in the game We’re up for grabs, if you haven’t heard And so it seems we’re all just soldiers

Are you ready? They’ll say:

Die On Command – call it a righteous stand Die On Command – wear the official brand Die On Command – the blood soaks your hands

Take a long look at who’s giving the orders. This is not what you want.

You fake it like it is. This is not what you want. You can do better than this. Die for them, and you won’t. You wouldn’t know what to do. You don’t know what to do. We’re all too far-removed. May never do it, THOUGH WE CAN!

1 Shock & Reason

The things I say may put you off, irritate, or blow your mind. They'll be hurling demon labels cuz I won't go their way. I stand and give direction so you'll have it explained. And hopefully you will see just how far off the mark they want you to be. When you come face to face with reality, contrast the real ideal with what you're pushing on me. After I shatter hallucinogens, let it sink in. Can you see what it's about? It's been a process of weeding out. Shock and Reason x 4. I'm a uniter - unity I incite! If you can't see that, it's why I try to shed the light. Take a look at your life - you fight to force a divide to conquer... But now you're identified! So let's make it right again. Time to repent! How much art can you take? This artist shakes you awake! Shock and Reason x4 Shock.

2 Statanic

The state of your mind is the mind of the State! Sanitized, satanized, you regulate their minds. Satellite feeds beam the dirty deeds to meet the needs of your thirty breeds of imbecelic beasts craving vitriolic feasts in this psychoholic disease of "democracy". Parasitic - Hysteria steerin' ya into a wall. It's Lunacivic! Hysteria steerin' ya into a wall. Your state of mind is the mind of the State.

3 Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was a racist mass-murderer, a human being, a tyrant, a pioneering deceiver. You don't wanna hear it - you cut off the receiver. Be another leftist stooge, you're a true believer. Slavery started with Africa and the indians first, and by some accounts in the North it was worse. Let's hear the fate of Confederates and northern pacifists who refused to fight: War prisons! Slavery would die, instead saw leviathan rise! x4 Tell me how come you never hear about the Union Leagues in the storm of anti-kkk publicity(?) The UL terrorized black voters and white landowners alike - that's the true face of radical Republican Lincolnites. Don't think the public can handle the complexity? Is it too absurd to be burnin' Sherman effigies? The statist tyranny machine the Whigs have wrought has reached into your minds through a history of propagandistic deceit! Deceit Deceit Deceit Deceit Deceit!

Recommendation: Read THE REAL LINCOLN and similar books if these lyrics seem strange to you or if you want more information on this subject.

4 Enticing To Steal

Enticing to steal!! I can't even enforce my own policies and build a free solace on my own property. Don't even speak because I know what you'll say. Enticing to steal, it's always the same! I say it's the same as corruption! Involuntary government is corruption... of property and rights! (rinse and repeat)

5 RARATM

Zach, I thought that you had finally had it! Socialism couldn't cut it, pick up a new habit. You said your decision-making system had fallen apart. Too much credit, I guess you're not that smart. We need more anthems for idiots, che guevera t-shirts and bad lyrics! Get them riled up, we're all so oppressed! Dey feel da funk blast, but dunno what dey rebel against! Meanwhile, your band is sittin' pretty exploiting stupid movements to make a penny. You ARE the machine, you set the gears in motion: Dirty thieves selling violence with emotion! RARATM x 4. I gots the crowd in my corner, nevermind if they're right or not, democratically popular, legislatively forced on us... We need more anthems for idiots, che guevera t-shirts and bad lyrics. Get them riled up, we're all so oppressed. Dey feel da funk blast, dunno what dey rebel against. You ARE the machine, you set the gears in motion: Dirty thieves selling violence with emotion! RARATM!

6 America Held Hostage

lyrics coming soon. thanks for your patience.

7 Hell In A Handbasket

I didn't know people could be so insane. Benefit of the doubt is to blame. Assumptions for the best, and now your mind's a wreck. I still can't believe the scam from which it sprang. Professors' lies so stale. They all belong in jail. Pussification of a nation. The future's gonna rot. Uncle Scam pays the bail, our revolutions fail. Who could hear Paul Revere? Such comfortable robots. Assumptions for the best, and now your mind's a wreck. No limits to insanity - that's the name of the game! Professors' lies so stale. They all belong in jail. Pussification of a nation. The future's gonna rot.

8 Rebel For Misunderstanding

lyrics coming soon. Thanks for your patience.

9 Democracy

DEMOCRACY You are not me! Compromise! Conformity! You claim “Diversity”! That’s blind hypocrisy! I’ll make my own decisions You cause conflict, divisions You’d cage me in this mess Accept unanimity, nothing less! F### Democracy! F### Democracy! F### Democracy! F### Democracy! You are not me! F### Democracy! Compromise! Conformity! F### Democracy! You claim “Diversity”! F### Democracy! That’s blind hypocrisy! F### Democracy! I’ll make my own decisions You cause conflict, divisions You’d cage me in this mess Accept unanimity, nothing less!

10 In Bondage

Artificial boundaries of our lives - by your complicity. Did you decide? Not a chance! You spread your pain sweating under the strain of the false worldview pushed on you. In bondage, by fault of protocols of a trespassing mindset. Efforts to break free, jaded by deceit, innocent ideals damaged and corrupting. So, view the market for justice: Force is not identified! Anti-market forces want this, complaining only the strong survive. So, view the market for justice: Force is not identified! Anti-market forces want this, complaining only the strong survive... at the point of a gun! It shall be legal for one to do whatever he chooses, so long as he does not agress against another's life, liberty or property (The non-aggression axiom/principle) I see innocent ideals damaged and corrupting, and efforts to break free are jaded by deceit.

11 In Camps

I want no part in your imperial commune. Step back, I don't ever try to trespass on you. You actually believe it is your right to lash out! It's time to take a stand and do something about you. Free speech is not the issue! You show you need to be restrained... We could let socialists do what they want to if they could keep it contained. But your time is up, you've had your chance. We'll see how you fare on your own... In camps! In camps! Concentration camps for centralizing FDR clones! Herd these criminals together into restrictive zones! Camps have a bad name, but this isn't the same. We could let them out if they rehabilitate. But if they can't keep it isolated, they should be incarcerated! (chorus) Pool your resources, we'll lock you in... until you stop preaching expropriation. Your socialism must be voluntary; if you can't handle that let's impose some boundaries! You're so sure of what you think you know... The involuntary aspect's got to go! You think it's a natural, one-way progression, but it's exploitation and oppression! We've had enough, and you've had your chance. We'll see how you fare on your own in camps! In camps. In camps!

12 I Don't Freestyle

I don't freestyle cuz that's not what I am about. The song writes itself because I'm living what I know aloud. I take the time to craft so I can say what is written. I know the pen is mightier than your talk shittin'. You're all overrated like oral communication, so step back, leave it behind, and I'll show you what you're missing. Feelin' hungry, punk? Cuz I'm cooking anarchistic taste toward inner excellence. I shook the entire f***ing place because I'm calling long distance. I speak authoritatively, but don't call me a "fascist" cuz I shriek against the ways you'd mold us all into statists (yes, pronounced somewhat improperly - I claim poetic license!) That's where so many get hung up, they wanna hang me too. They don't understand that libertarian means the freedom to choose. So that's why they abuse us, hurling political excuses, so step back, leave it behind, and shine the truth in my verses. I don't freestyle, but I've got that FREE style... ha ha

It’s not just what you feel – it’s all too real When you’re born pinned to the Duluth wheel The Duluth wheel…

3. afraid of ghosts

Today, people are afraid of ghosts Hiding memories of systemic breaches of our hopes Infiltrating our bodies, disconnecting our souls Casting us into unfamiliar, fictional roles

It’s a pretty weak excuse to get off on fear When you have all the power behind you but you don’t have a mirror You can call me a hypocrite, call me totally wrong Call me every name in the book, I think I’ve heard them all

A creature bears his defenses against the unknown And when trouble may lurk, that’s when his teeth are shown The institution can break down in an entropic spin Causing the problem we face, so that’s where we begin

Black memories reinforced by racist tendencies see a wispy white Lost on a burning cross, they fan the flames in the night Today it seems their redemption has long run out They wear the grooves of their lives as they file for clout

Political power has no place here or anywhere Institutions’ offenses destroy natural trust Involuntarily bear the price of legislative “civil rights” Yes, it bites That’s the fact of the matter That’s the cause we have to fight!

People are afraid of ghosts Systemic breaches of our hopes Disconnecting our souls Unfamiliar fictional roles

4. culture of violence

Blocking the exits No alternatives Holding me up Mandatory sedatives Censor out censorship Lashing out, you’re full of shit

Culture of violence Forced to support, you bring my defiance

You say it’s unthinkable Because you can’t think straight Holding me up with your judicial flames As long as you’re wrong I’ll call for the gong

Anarchy is order Chaos is complexity PhoenixHeart Records, CCMD, ABORT SCENE Anarchy is order Chaos is complexity

Kill the emotion

You let your feelings control your actions Placing great weight on those distractions Saw this coming. I was in a place to know Like Paul, revere! And let the true light show

Kill the emotion!

6. false assumption

You’re operating under the false assumption That you should make my choices for me Time is calling for an interruption To break your chains of tyranny

I’ll never agree to the things you believe While your mind is corrupted with the will to deceive I won’t contribute by my own choice So sad that you think it’s your right to a voice

False assumption – False assumption – False assumption Your false reality

My life pays for your false movements You’ve set a time bomb, and I’d diffuse it You won’t let me change it or let me out Await the day when it takes you out

You’re operating under the false assumption That you should make my choices for me Time is calling for an interruption To break your chains of tyranny

I’ll never agree to the things you believe While your mind is corrupted with the will to deceive I won’t contribute by my own choice So sad that you think it’s your right to a voice

7. forming (germs)

Rip them down and hold me up Tell them that I’m your gun Pull my trigger, I am bigger than…

Mr. Prez in his big white house Listen, he says we’re coming out Information/infiltration, numbing your minds Concentration, we’ve done time

Rip them down and hold me up Tell them that I’m your gun Pull my trigger, I am bigger than…

Over there, the queen she says Stamp them out and dry those tears Saturation, we want it in taxes Flagellation, we’ve got gashes

Rip them down and hold me up Tell them that I’m your gun Pull my trigger, I am bigger than…

In the cold, the czars are claimin’ Just protectin’ rockets aimin’ Alteration, the world is changing Observation, we want action

8. right to secede

We are individuals Living under duress And fear of the rulers Claiming eminent dominance

You have the right to secede And you are right to secede

The situation’s despicable Voting under duress A single will forced on all Natural Right trumps illegal laws

You have the right to secede And you are right to secede You have the right to secede And you’d be right to secede You have the right to secede Right to secede!

We are individuals Living under duress In fear of the rulers Claiming eminent dominance

The situation’s despicable Voting under duress A single will forced on all Natural Right trumps illegal laws!

9. get moving

(instrumental dance track)

10. no holiday for MLK

I have a dream: One day we’ll all be free Of racist legislation, whether in segregation or harmony Let free association be the key, and in its name we’ll resist And anyone using force or fear to stop us is a terrorist

Hey, this is nothing extreme Just the obvious choice For the past 20 years you only hear one voice How about a major dissent Wondering where it all went Not in the streets, they’ve all gone in They let the terrorists win

So they say MLK deserves his own day But I claim it’s a shame and they should take it away Even Ronald Reagan didn’t want it to be He gave in to popular perception – It’s not reality

The guy is remembered for only one line From one speech, so they teach to slap his face on “civil rights” But these so-called “laws” are not the cause of any rights that are true And King had socialist leanings. They misrepresent his views

No holiday for MLK – They say we must celebrate No holiday for MLK – This time you better get it straight No holiday for MLK – Affirmative action legacy No holiday for MLK – Let’s put an end to the E.E.O.C. Put an end to the E.E.O.C. Let’s put an end to the E.E.O.C.

11. not overthrow

Not overthrow Seek secession, not overthrow

Pay attention now: The goal Is not to overthrow It’s to secede to be free To not be forced to your mold

I’d throw off your reins Don’t mean to put them on you Unless for crime you deserve To be put to work

Not overthrow Seek secession, not overthrow

The anarchist secedes to regain control Regain control of himself

Not overthrow Seek secession, not overthrow The anarchist secedes to regain control Regain control of himself

12. got no domination

I’ve got style I’ve got flair I’m so damn excited (I don’t care)

I may scream I don’t whine Call me an asshole Hey, get in line

I got no domination to push on you So now what the fuck are you gonna do? You think you want to force on everyone A criminal nature, but you won’t run

I got no domination Got no domination Got no domination Got no domination

13. pay to cum (bad brains)

I make decisions with precision Lost inside this manned collision Just to see what is to be Perfectly my fantasy

I came to see with now dismay That in this world we all must pay Pay to write, pay to play Pay to cum, pay to fight

And all in time With just our minds We soon may find What’s left behind

Not long ago, when things were slow We all got by with what we know The end is near, hearts filled with fear Don’t want to listen to what they hear

So it’s now we choose to fight To stick up for our bloody right The right to sing, the right to dance The right is ours, we take the chance

A peace together Or a peace apart A piece of wisdom From our hearts

14. uphill battle

Leftist douchebags run the indie scene Most getting into it are too naïve And to young to know what they think Bottom line: It’s not what it should be

I got into this to proclaim real justice And to get away from mainstream socialist fuck-ups So hang up and leave them holding the phone We’re all better off if we just do this alone

DIY DIY DIY Do it yourself, that’s what I say No need to support their crime parade I lead by example, let them figure what’s up It’s an uphill battle, but I’m Conservative Punk!

15. stop legislating morality

Tell them Eliminate the crime of government States don’t create our betterment Individual actions are at play here They’ll tell you without force they won’t get what they need Stop legislating morality Choose voluntary charity

Don’t force a mockery of good will A moral vacuum that can’t be filled

Tell them Eliminate the crime of government States don’t create our betterment Individual actions are at play here They’ll tell you without force they won’t get what they need Stop legislating morality Choose voluntary charity

Stop Legislating Morality!

17. would you shoot a thief?

Would you shoot a thief if she had no gun? Would you shoot a thief, or would you make her run? Would you shoot a thief if she had no gun? Would you shoot a thief, or would you make her run?

It’s not that simple, these days Anymore, these days

Ever since FDR, It doesn’t make much sense anymore Ever since FDR, The thieves are pounding, pounding down the front door Ever since FDR, There are no two sides to a contract anymore It’s no deal That’s why I say…

I can’t shoot a thief if I have no gun I can’t shoot a thief, or even make her run I can’t shoot a thief if I have no gun I can’t shoot a thief, or even make her run

It’s not that easy, these days Anymore, these days

Ever since FDR, It doesn’t make much sense anymore Ever since FDR The thieves are pounding, pounding, pounding down the front door Ever since FDR There are no two sides to a contract anymore It’s no deal That’s why I say…

I’ve got a gun to my head from the hand of the state They’re gonna lock me up if I don’t cooperate I can’t shoot a thief if I have no gun I can’t shoot a thief, or even make her run

Would you shoot? Would you shoot?

I would.

UNIVERSITY
The University is infested with scum:
Racist, sexist, relativist, statist p.c. bums
And the tide is not turning due to brainwashed alumns
The syllabi terrorize and minds go numb
Fu(k You, University
Fu(k You, University
Fu(k you, University
Demand an alternative!!
Ideologue feminazi
Multiculturalist insanity
P.C. vanity
It’s not worth a degree!
Fu(k You, University
Fu(k You, University
Fu(k You, University
Demand an alternative!!
Demand an alternative!!

AND YOUR MONEY PAYS FOR IT
‘Womyns Studies’
Feminazi lectures
Hate movement ideology in every hall
Censored speech codes
Designated zones
Lying statistic on the walls
And your money pays for it!
Textbooks lack any connection to truth
‘Advantaged’ and ‘privileged’ are only double-speak
Their dreams can come true, and it seems Orwell knew:
The leftists divide and conquer by hypocrisy!
and your money pays for it!
Your money pays for it!!

COLLEGE=MTV
Circa 1981
A new medium and education
Now both have strayed the same
The same influence to blame
‘we direct the minds of the youth’
Notice how they target you!
The Left blacklists the Right by rote
Now get out there and ‘rock the vote’
Oppression, by emotional allure!
Bundled with an MTV college tour
I hear ‘black studies’ is pretty fly
By any means necessary, ‘vote or die’!!
College equals MTV
College equals MTV
Neither offers true substance, and you
Try to quench your mind with a false feud
We need a cultural secession from these political swine
Find a new way apart and free your mind
And your life!!
Circa 1981
A new medium and education
Now both have strayed the same
The same influence to blame!!

GUILTY OF BEING WHITE (Minor Threat cover)
I’m sorry for something I didn’t do
Lynched somebody, but I don’t know who!
You blame me for slavery a hundred years before I was born!
Guilty of being white!!
Guilty of being white!!
I’m a convict of a racist crime; I’ve only served 19 years of my time!
Guilty of being white!!
Guilty of being right?!!

AFFINITY
You wanted to find some way out of this
Society does not exist
I see you struggle on through the eve of letdown
You wanted Truth, and I seek to grant your wish
To you, all lies soon dismissed
They way the seas pound the shore, imperfect evermore!
Yet it carries the seed of the breed we need to
defeat the greed, deceit, and grief
That plagues our souls and our beliefs
Holding the impetus to try to clarify the minds of you and I
To find the line that divides pride, passion, and lies from your eyes
By disguise of the cries exercised outside
Exorcise and rise!
You wanted to find some way out of this
Society does not exist.

ONE FOR SECESSION
What is keeping you in this involuntary union?
Speaking of America, “get it or get out”
A voluntary union’s what the USA’s about, but
This is not the United States
That nation long ago laid to waste
Leaving only empty hymns to the state
No concern for Liberty
No idea what’s at stake!
They praise Lincoln and use colorful imagery
Preserving a union under duress – sea to shining sea, yeah
Hey, fu(k slavery! I’ll stamp it out!
That’s exactly why I’ll fly the flag of the South
Gather your property, gain sovereignty, yeah some personal clout
Set boundaries, your own policies, and keep them out!
Secede! Secede!

POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE (Bad Brains cover)
Don’t care what you may say – I got that attitude
Don’t care what you may do – I got that attitude
Hey, I got the PMA
Hey, I got the PMA
Don’t care what you may do – I got that attitude
Don’t care what you may say – I got that attitude
Hey, I got the PMA
Hey, I got the PMA
I don’t know what HR says here
We got that attitude
We got that attitude
Don’t care what you may say – We got that attitude
Don’t care what you may do – We got that attitude
Positive Mental Attitude, Positive Mental Attitude
Positive Mental fu(kin’ Attitude!!

THAT SAME BLACKENED HEART
I hate your culture
Get the fu(k out
Of my way, the only way
Yeah, gotta play It straight
Decentralize the future
And get the force out
I want democratic feet
Not democratic thieves
But as of late, it seems there’s no one left
Boiled down to hate, but forgotten political theft!
I’d never blame you for living apart,
But political socialists of all stripes share that same blackened heart!
They share that same blackened heart!

JAILED, DEPORTED, OR SHOT
Welcome to dis orientation
We degenerate your minds and teach expropriation
With a side of idealist masturbation
We know you came for an education
We’ll educate you the way we want!
Most of us should be jailed, deported, or shot!!
We’re here to facilitate your assimilation
Into our multicultural indoctrination
We’re sure you’ll find your own special niche
We’re powered by the steam when you whine and bitch
True education, this is not!
Most of us should be jailed, deported, or shot!!

ABORT SCENE – ‘IF YOU WANT PEACE’ ep lyrics
© 2007 Abort Scene

IF YOU WANT PEACE
If you
Want Peace
Take some time from your pet movements
Isolate the issue and prove it
Dissociate the cause from the freaks
Don’t need another circus in D.C.
Take some time to understand private property
Isolationism and private charity
Natural Rights and Natural Law
Stop the trespassing and make some sense of it all
If you want peace, stop the war at home!
If you want peace, stop the war at home!
If you want peace, stop the war at home!
If you want peace, stop the war on me!

APATHY
I hear you complain about ‘apathy’… What a joke!
You take a shortcut and force it down our throats
If you really want a change, then create an alternative
And market it to these people with good reason
I didn’t say it would be popular
And that is not always right
Just like you try to shape our world through an unnecessary fight
While trampling on our rights
Honor! Rights! Honor! Rights! Honor! Rights!
In case you’re wondering how we got here,
It involves a mob and an easy chair
I’d gladly take the latter, but I want something else:
Remove the tentacles of mobocracy from my quest for wealth
Until then rest assured everyone will always lose
While they insist it is their privilege to choose…
Your masters!!

CLOSE IT RIGHT
The Left is gonna call me ‘offensive’ at least,
They’ll throw out ‘racist’, ‘sexist’, and ‘Not P.C.’
Truth is, they don’t understand any of these
So they don’t deserve a time to speak
As for you, you’re concerned about an ‘open mind’
So don’t clog it with all the leftist trash you’ll find
I’ll do my best to clarify and close it right
You may be shocked, scared, and surprised
Truth is, they don’t understand any of these
So they don’t deserve a time to speak
All they know is deceit
Uncover their meticulous lies!

VENONA PROJECT
Not just a witch hunt
We know they were there
Should they have used the government?
They call it’Red Scare’!
McCarthy was right about commies in government
The mainstream sympathized, so now we live with it!
And the culture has gone to s#it!
We shouldn’t have to be terrified – we should put them away
We shouldn’t tolerate similar advocates today
Someone says ‘free speech’ and it all gives way,
But advocating theft is a crime, I’d say!
Not just a witch hunt!
Venona Project!
Ch-Ch-Check it Check it Check it out!!

SPIRITUALLY SLAUGHTER
Spiritually slaughter feminazi scum
What worth in God’s eyes be left to be known
To help right their wrongs is a part of this quest
That one day we may all pass the great test
Affirmative action is the devil’s distraction
Babylon’s code spread in sinful rations
Now’s the time to break that false lust to dust
Only the eternal is True and Just!
In every which way, one looks and hears the TVs
They disseminate death in a psycho-disease
Flying close to the flame, and it won’t be the same
Praise His Name!!

COLLEGE

No worth in your words; A lost look in your eyes; Shame is your envy; What lurks to entice

Sick of your hopes; Sick of your lies; Sticking to my guns….

College is a sick joke in disguise, College is a sick joke in disguise, College is a sick joke in disguise, College is a sick joke in disguise…….More than meets the eye!

A coat of sugar for the youth; Bad medicine for the mind; Consider the investment; A tooth for an eye

Sick of your hopes; Sick of your lies; Sticking to my guns….

College is a sick joke in disguise, College is a sick joke in disguise, College is a sick joke in disguise, College is a sick joke in disguise…….More than meets the eye!

Only private solutions; Heed no public advice; You must Do It Yourself; On a campus of lies

College is a sick joke in disguise… (repeat) … A collage of sick jokes in disguise.

INTOLERATE!

Close it off!! Push it back!! Brimming at the edges… Fend of their attack!!

‘Tolerance’ is nonsense! It’s a ‘P.C.’ death-trance!!

Close it off!! Push it back!! Thought control!! Thought control!! Thought control…

NATURALLY CRIMINAL

You aggress against me and crime is done! The Criminal Mind – Policy of a gun!

And my defenses/protection denied; In you, Liberty has died! (Has died!)

Voluntary action, human contract agreement; The ‘laws’ you cite draw not on Non-Aggression.

Initiate no violence on property or person! The fates you claim do not stand to reason!

These laws – are naturally criminal.
These taxes – are naturally criminal.
Citing Natural Rights and Natural Law,
Your actions are ‘Naturally Criminal’ (Yes I fight for freedom!)

NEITHER COAST

You don’t want me around. I don’t want you around. (repeat)

Don’t need your force on me
I must evade your empiracy
Cold towers of ivory
Raging filth is the machine

Secede (!) from the cities on either coast
Secede (!) from the witches in caps and robes

You don’t want me around. I don’t want you around. (repeat)

Do you want me to compromise?
All hopes to fall flat before my eyes
How wrong, for I would never do to you…
… like your coercion would do to us all…

Secede (!) from the cities on either coast
Secede (!) from the witches in caps and robes

NO HOLLYWOOD

60 channels; Nothing’s on; Saw the preview; How can people watch that cr#p?

Say “No” to Hollywood; Commie agenda? That’s accurate!

Deny the culture. The dead circle the dead (get in your head), all vultures.

60 channels; Nothing’s on; Saw the preview; How can people watch that cr#p?

Check it again; turn it off. Dissect or ignore! Dissect or ignore!!

NO RECOGNITION

How did it ever get this far? All forgotten, what the words are for. When I break away to maintain the right, I speak the Truth and I’m set alight

(I am the heir, not heresy. Follow the path, do the math, and you will see.)

No recognition. Historical partitions!

Yeah, if I’m really so ‘far out’; Radicalism is the status quo. I conserve the founding and not today; To secure and defend liberty.

If no one else will go along with me; What does that show for the entirety? Are these sheep all wolves in disguise? What to expect? Pull the wool from your eyes.

SHATTERED LINCOLN

Butcher of the South receives his hellish praise; From the envious, the unknowing, the morally decayed
The cities he burned, the deaths and the rapes; And a false sense of unity, for empire’s sake.

Shattered Lincoln: Lies, Tariffs, Taxes, Aggression.

A voluntary union meant the right to secede.
Love?!? Never his intention, for no one was freed…
He brought to the public, Bondage over Liberty
And this world torn down by false excuse of slavery

(guitar solo)

TRUE CHARITY

Got a problem; Find you a solution; Want you to prosper; Bring true resolution; Got a problem; Find you a solution.

Make the choice to give; Open the doors to live…

If you haven’t the time, assist those who do; The fewest middlemen, recipient and you

Do not dilute your efforts; Effect for what you offer; Do not dilute your efforts

No organized theft, to the poor from the rich. No way! I say give an overriding gift: Teach a man to fish.

www.pokerface.comSong: Rather Die Than Be Your Slave * Artist: Poker Face * Album: Sex, Lies and Politiks (PokerDudes, 2000) This Allentown (PA) band is not to be believed! With a sound that is a cross between Creed, Alice in Chains, and Pink Floyd, they grab you immediately with their music. The band's intense sound hammers the freedom message home in song after song. My favorite song is "Rather Die Than Be Your Slave." The lyrics: "The sun rose high and burnt the night away / Who stood before me was my enemy / Don't tread on me / He's come to take away my liberties / I'd rather die than be a slave to thee / Don't tread on me!" The band never lets you forget their message. (freerepublic.com)

Johnathan Edwards
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Sunshine * Artist: Jonathan Edwards * Album: Lucky Day (Capricorn, 1971) Released in 1971, the same year the Libertarian Party was founded, "Sunshine" was a crossover hit that reached the Top Five. A catchy, upbeat yet laid-back country anthem, its folky lyrics were almost custom-written for the second American Revolution. The song begins on a defeated note, with the hero telling the sunshine to go away because "some man's...trying to run my life / He tells me I better get in line." But the hero realizes that "time is all we've lost," and defiantly claims: "He can't even run his own life / I'll be damned if he'll run mine." The song ends hopefully with the lyrics, "Sunshine come on back another day / I promise you I'll be singin' / This old world she's gonna turn around / Brand new bells will be ringing." This could be an optimistic theme song for all Libertarians. (freerepublic.com)

Billy Joel
Lyrics
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: My Life * Artist: Billy Joel * Album: 52nd Street (Sony / Columbia, 1978) The central problem of libertarianism is how to draw the lines that neighbors and government may not cross in dealing with individuals. Billy Joel's "My Life" is the pop song that I think best spotlights that question. Joel sings: "I don't care what you say anymore / this is my life / Go ahead with your own life, and leave me alone...And you can speak your own mind / but not on my time." The lyrics simply declare personal sovereignty, expressing equally well the thoughts of a teenager, standing up to his parents; an adult, setting personal boundaries for a domineering lover, spouse, or friend; or -- I like to think -- an overtaxed, overregulated citizen, rethinking his relationship to society and government. (freerepublic.com)

Public Enemy
Lyrics
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: 911 is a Joke * Artist: Public Enemy * Album: Fear of a Black Planet (Uni / Def Jam, 1990) This is a witty little rap tune about a government service that costs lives by being slow -- and selective about which neighborhoods get efficient government ambulance service. The lyrics say: "Hit me / Going going gone / Now I dialed 911 a long time ago / Don't you see how late they're reactin' / They only come when they wanna / so get the morgue, embalm the goner / They don't care, 'cause they stay paid anyway / If your life is on the line, you're dead today...'Cause 911 is a fake life-saver." This was one of the first rap songs to take on the bad effects government has on inner cities -- besides police brutality and harassment. (freerepublic.com)

Bob Marley & The Wailers
Lyrics
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Get Up, Stand Up * Artist: Bob Marley & The Wailers * Album: Burnin' (Tuff Gong / Island, 1973) "Get up, stand up / Stand up for your rights / Get up, stand up / Don't give up the fight." It is the message of the Founding Fathers set to a reggae beat. And Robert Nesta Marley (R.I.P.) had the spirit of a Founding Father with Rastafarian dreads. Rastafarians believe in religious and personal freedom, including the freedom to smoke ganja (which is their sacrament). Later, Marley sings: "Most people think / Great God will come from the sky / Take away everything / And make everybody feel high / But if you know what life is worth / You will look for yours on Earth / And now you see the light / You stand up for your rights." A worldwide classic of freedom and empowerment. (freerepublic.com)

The PoguesPogues.com
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: The Band Played Waltzing Matilda * Artist: The Pogues * Album: Rum, Sodomy & the Lash (WEA Records, 1985) Written by Australian folk singer Eric Bogle, the song describes Australian soldiers marching off to the Empire's Great War in Europe -- which would be eclipsed, of course, by an even "greater" war just 25 years later -- and coming home "armless, legless, blind and insane." War isn't just "another government program," as Joseph Sobran has written, but its bloodiest, most senseless and self-aggrandizing program. With their haunting melody and lead singer Shane MacGowan's lugubrious brogue, the Pogues express this libertarian sentiment in especially poignant fashion. This may be, quite simply, the finest anti-war song ever written. (freerepublic.com)

Grateful DeadLyrics   www.Dead.net - Official Grateful Dead website
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Liberty * Artist: Grateful Dead * Album: So Many Roads (BMG / Arista, 1999) "Liberty" is an ode to uncompromising freedom. Its opening stanza recalls Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death!" -- "Saw a bird with a tear in his eye / Walking to New Orleans, my oh my / Said, 'Hey bird, wouldn't you rather die / Than walk this world when you're born to fly?' " The song pays homage to unflinching individualism: "If I was the sun, I'd look for shade / If I was a bed, I would stay unmade / If I was a river I'd run uphill..." And the chorus exults for all to hear: "Ohh freedom, Ohh liberty / Ohh leave me alone / To find my own way home..." It also doesn't hurt that the Grateful Dead was perhaps the 20th century's most "libertarian" musical entity, eschewing industry rules and conventions to blaze a most original trail for some 30 years. (freerepublic.com)

RushLyrics
  Rush Official Website
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Something for Nothing * Artist: Rush * Album: 2112 (Uni / Mercury, 1976) The song that best exemplifies liberty is "Something for Nothing," written by Neil Peart (who is a Libertarian). The lyrics begin by pointing out how most of us are waiting for someone or something to come along and change our lives. Then, in the reprise, the song says: "You don't get something for nothing / You don't get freedom for free." To me, these lyrics say freedom can only be attained and preserved by a continuing effort and sacrifice. The last stanza is about freedom and how it allows an individual to create a life for himself that best reflects his goals and values. (freerepublic.com)

Song: 1% * Artist: Jane's Addiction * Album: Jane's Addiction (Triple XXX, 1987) Rather than providing a 100 word interpretation, I am submitting the actual lyrics, because the Liberty message needs no interpreting. It's almost as though the song was written to describe the uphill struggle the LP and all liberty lovers have faced over the past 30 years from both gangs and governments alike. The song says: "All the people I know wanna be left alone /some people! / I don't know! / they won't leave you alone / you gotta be just like them / biggest gang I know they call the government...the gang and the government / no different / the gang and the government / no different." The BeatlesLyrics
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Taxman * Artist: The Beatles * Album: Revolver (Capitol, 1966) This song highlights in a funny way the lengths that government will go to tax people. It also conveys quite well the attitude many politicians have -- namely, that our money is theirs and we should be happy that they let us keep any of it. The lyrics, written by George Harrison, make a wonderfully libertarian point about taxes: "If you drive a car, I'll tax the street / If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat / If you get too cold, I'll tax your heat / If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet." And don't miss the last line: "I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman / and you're working for no one but me." (freerepublic.com)

Steve EarleSteve Earle Official Website
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Copperhead Road * Artist: Steve Earle * Album: Copperhead Road (Uni, 1988) When arguing against the War on Drugs, Libertarians frequently draw parallels to alcohol prohibition. But they rarely do it as persuasively as Steve Earle. Set to an urgent mandolin, this country/rock classic is the story of John Lee Pettimore, whose grandaddy brewed moonshine on Copperhead Road. "Now the revenue man wanted grandaddy bad / He headed up the holler with everything he had," sings Earle. "It's before my time but I've been told / He never came back from Copperhead Road." Fast-forward 50 years: After two tours of duty in Vietnam, Pettimore comes back "with a brand new plan / I take the seed from Columbia and Mexico / I plant it up the holler down Copperhead Road." Recycling history, before long "the DEA's got a chopper in the air..." And restating Prohibition's deadly lessons, Pettimore warns the DEA: "I learned a thing or two from Charlie don't you know / you better stay away from Copperhead Road." Three verses, 50 years of history, and one lesson: Prohibition kills. (freerepublic.com)

Neil Diamond
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: America * Artist: Neil Diamond * Album: The Jazz Singer (Sony / Columbia, 1984) The perfect pro-immigration libertarian theme song. This song's lyrics embody what I believe is the best ideal of America: A star guiding the journey of people fleeing from hunger and oppression. People come to America because they only want to be free." America will be their new "...home, it's a new and shining place / Make our bed and we'll say our grace / Freedom's light burning arm...Everywhere around the world / They're coming to America / Every time that flag's unfurled / They're coming to America." This song's stirring music gets anyone's heart pounding, a fitting accompaniment to the stirring lyrics. (freerepublic.com)

NoFx
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: The Plan * Artist: NOFX * Album: Life in The Fat Lane / Fat Music Vol IV (Fat Wreck Chords, 1999) Two years ago, I bought a punk rock compilation titled Life in The Fat Lane / Fat Music Vol IV. I loved the entire album, but when it got to "The Plan" I stood in amazement. It was talking about the things I stood for, in a crude punk way, of course. I listened over and over; I had no idea what a Libertarian was. Later that week I heard Harry Browne on the Don & Mike radio show. He showed me that there is a political party that reflects my ideas; I no longer had to vote against anyone. I never felt so free, and I owe it all to NOFX. The song says: "Call it Libertarian 'cos we do as we please... / It has to do with freedom and personal liberty / I don't f**k with you, don't f**k with me..." (freerepublic.com)

The Young Rascals
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: People Want to Be Free * Artist: The Young Rascals * Album: Freedom Suite (Atlantic, 1969) A simple and eloquent expression of libertarian thought. There are no complex topics, no over-the-top explanations of free-market economy. No mention of a large and overbearing government, only a single, beautiful assertion, "All the world over, so easy to see / People everywhere just wanna be free / I can't understand it, so simple to me / People everywhere just got to be free." This is the core of my libertarian beliefs. Any other argument I can formulate stem from that simple idea: "People want to be free." Listening to this song always reminds me of why I'm a Libertarian. (freerepublic.com)

Too Short
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: I Want To Be Free (That's the Truth) * Artist: Too Short * Album: Shorty the Pimp (BMG / Jive / Silvertone, 1992) While Too Short's lyrics are often explicit, and he is considered more hardcore than mainstream, he is not about the "gangsta rap" that glorifies violence. Back in 1992, the year this song came out, LP Presidential candidate Andre Marrou joked that the Republicans don't want anyone having more fun than they do, and the Democrats don't want anyone making more money than they do -- but Libertarians want you to make money and have fun. Too Short is clearly with the Libertarians. In "I Want To Be Free," he recognizes that the police are standing between the average black man and his peaceful enjoyment of both money ("They see a brother makin' major cash / They knock a patch out his black ass") and fun ("Cause the 5-0's always tryin' to jack a playa.") The song is full of references to illegal searches, police robbery, racial profiling, and other War on Drugs abuses. And of course you've gotta love the title. (freerepublic.com)

Oingo Boingo
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Capitalism * Artist: Oingo Boingo * Album: Only A Lad (Uni / A&M, 1981) I think the lyrics speak for themselves as to why this song best exemplifies the spirit of liberty: "There's nothing wrong with Capitalism / There's nothing wrong with free enterprise / Don't try to make me feel guilty / I'm so tired of hearing you cry / There's nothing wrong with making some profit / If you ask me, I'll say it's just fine...There's nothing wrong with wanting to live nice / I'm so tired of hearing you whine / About the revolution / Bringin' down the rich / When was the last time you dug a ditch, baby?" We are the only party who unabashedly supports capitalism and this song speaks to that -- while admonishing the naysayers to admit that they have no real appreciation for the people they supposedly speak for. Nevermore
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Inside Four Walls * Artist: Nevermore * Album: Dead Heart in a Dead World (Century Media, 2000) This heavy metal song is a blunt criticism of the War on Drugs. The band members had a friend who has been put in jail for drug use, and they strongly believe he doesn't deserve to be there. The middle of the song has a short monologue that says: "It's a cold fact, that in the United states of America, typical drug offenders do more time than child molesters, rapists, and murderers. Is this justice? Is this the American way?" He then screams, "NO!" The song is most impressive because you can tell he really feels what he's saying. (freerepublic.com)

Frank Sinatra
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: My Way * Artist: Frank Sinatra * Album: My Way (WEA / Warner, 1969) This song reflects our Libertarian spirit. To me, it is about freedom of choice in all aspects of our lives. Sinatra mentions regrets, yet he dealt with the consequences of the decisions...he never sought to be bailed out by anyone else due to poor choices. Upon reflection, there were good times and bad times, but he is happy and proud to have done it his way. The lyrics (by Paul Anka) are a tribute to the spirit of unbowed individualism: "For what is a man, what has he got / If not himself, then he has naught / To say the things he truly feels / And not the words of one who kneels / The record shows, I took the blows / And did it my way." I can not think of a better song to express my Libertarian beliefs. (freerepublic.com)

Hank Williams, Jr.
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: The Coalition to Ban Coalitions * Artist: Hank Williams, Jr. * Album: The Pressure is On (WEA / Atlantic, 1987) The all-time best liberty song, containing the clearest libertarian sentiment, comes from country legend Hank Williams, Jr. If you hear it, you'll want to nominate it for Official Theme Song of the Libertarian Party. I'll let the lyrics speak for themselves: "This is the coalition to ban coalitions / I'm not a politician, but I've got views / some folks want to ban cars, some want to get rid of Fender guitars / hey, you do your thing and we'll do our thing, too...now they want to take my cigarettes and all my good whiskey / and these damn coalitions they are after you and me / they want to get rid of my .44s and all the R-rated films / if they only knew how much we'd all love to get rid of them." Somebody ought to approach Hank about joining the party. (freerepublic.com)

Ice-T
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Freedom of Speech * Artist: Ice-T * Album: The Iceberg / Freedom of Speech (WEA / Warner Bros., 1992) Rap artist Ice-T has a history of getting into trouble with the censors, most famously when his previous band N.W.A. released "F**k the Police" and then when Bodycount put out "Cop Killer." So it's no surprise that he's something of a First Amendment fanatic, which he makes clear in "Freedom of Speech," his raw free speech manifesto. Let's allow Ice-T to explain: "Freedom of Speech, let 'em take it from me / Next they'll take it from you, then what you gonna do? / Let 'em censor books, let 'em censor art / PMRC, this is where the witch hunt starts... / If you don't like what I'm sayin'? Fine / But don't close it, always keep an open mind / We only got one right left in the world today / Let me have it or throw the Constitution away." (freerepublic.com)

Lee Greenwood
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: God Bless The USA * Artist: Lee Greenwood * Album: American Patriot (EMD / Capitol, 1992) I know this was George Bush's unofficial anthem during his second run for office, but it's a moving song -- perhaps more so to me, as I'm a retired military man. I view the Libertarian Party as soldiers of a kind, fighting to regain freedoms we've lost over the years. I'm a new Libertarian and I'm proud to stand next to all of you in defense of our constitutional freedoms. Greenwood sings: "If tomorrow all the things were gone / I'd worked for all my life / And I had to start again / with just my children and my wife / I'd thank my lucky stars / to be living here today / 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom / and they can't take that away / I'm proud to be an American / where at least I know I'm free..." (freerepublic.com)

Steppenwolf
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Monster / Suicide / America * Artist: Steppenwolf * Album: Monster (Uni / MCA, 1969) One of the finest examples of libertarian music ever. From "Once the religious, the hunted and weary / Chasing the promise of freedom and hope / Came to this country to build a new vision..." to "America, where are you now? / Don't you care about your sons and daughters?" this song cites good and bad events in the history of our nation. The lyrics (by John Kay) say: "The spirit was freedom and justice / Its keepers seemed generous and kind / Its leaders were supposed to serve the country / Now they don't pay it no mind / Cause the people got fat and grew lazy / Now their vote is a meaningless joke...Yes, a monster's on the loose / It's put our heads into the noose...." A classic rock anthem about the decline and fall of the American dream of liberty. (freerepublic.com)

Peter Tosh
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Legalize It * Artist: Peter Tosh * Album: Legalize It (CBS Records, 1976) There may be more eloquently argued pro-marijuana legalization songs, and there may be more persuasive ones -- but there are none more catchy or memorable. Over a slinky reggae beat, Tosh sings about his beloved ganja: "Legalize it, yeah yeah / That's the best thing you can do." His rationale? Well, "Doctors smoke it / Nurses smoke it / Judges smoke it / Even the lawyers too." If that doesn't convince you, perhaps his medical arguments will: "It's good for the flu / it's good for asthma / It's good for tuberculosis..." OK, so Tosh (who used to appear on stage with a cigar-sized spliff in hand), won't win any debating points. But the song has become a pro-legalization classic because it's impossible not to sing along with. (freerepublic.com)

The Rainmakers
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: Government Cheese * Artist: The Rainmakers * Album: The Rainmakers (Polygram, 1985) Forget about free speech, drug legalization, gun rights, or immigration. The Rainmakers are willing to tackle the really tough issues -- free government cheese! Actually, this is a (semi)-serious song about the spirit-sapping effects of government welfare. The lyrics say: "Give a man a free house and he'll bust out the windows / Put his family on food stamps, now he's a big spender / No food on the table and the bills ain't paid / 'Cause he spent it on cigarettes and P.G.A. [Pure Grain Alcohol] / They'll turn us all into beggars 'cause they're easier to please / They're feeding our people that Government Cheese... / Going to hell in a handbag, can't you see / I ain't gonna eat no Government Cheese." It rocks, it's loud, and it's damned right! (freerepublic.com)

Rush
libertarian-themed songs include:
Song: The Trees * Artist: Rush * Album: Hemispheres (Uni / Mercury, 1978) There are any number of songs by Rush that express libertarian ideas; I am tempted to choose 2112 instead, especially since it is an interpretation of a book [Anthem] by my favorite libertarian author, Ayn Rand. But 2112 really doesn't qualify as a single song. The Neil Peart-penned "The Trees" certainly does, and eloquently contrasts the ecstasy of individualism with the destructive tyranny of collectivism. The song is a parable about coercive equality: "There is unrest in the forest / There is trouble with the trees / For the maples want more sunlight / And the oaks ignore their pleas..." When some of the trees form a union to demand "equal rights," the outcome is predictable (to Libertarians, anyway): "And the trees are all kept equal / By hatchet, axe, and saw." (freerepublic.com)

"Revolution/Liberty/Light A Fire" a triolgy. Watch and wait, get ready for the sign There are many here among us now who have not seen the light We must send the word to all the people in the land Go to every hill and mountain, For the time is now at hand To light a fire! Light a fire! Light a fire! Let us march the road up the rocky hill tonight, Under cover of the darkness We will slip behind the lines And we will take the men who have stolen our land, For the years of domination Hit them right between the eyes And light a fire! Light a fire, Light a fire, They will see through the world! Wake up boys, there's a light at the window, I can hear someone knocking on the door, There are voices in the street, And the sound of running feet, And they whisper the word -- "Revolution!" There are men coming down from the valleys, There are tall ships lying off the coast, And they carry the light, In the dark of the night, Like a whisper in the wind -- "Revolution!" Bring my gun and a handful of silver, By the sea we will gather for the fight, It's been so many years, So many tears, We have lost once before, Now we'll settle the score, When our cannons will roar -- "Revolution!" Roll away the dawn, Roll away the dawn and let me see, The land of the free, Has anything changed at all; Sweet liberty, Sweet liberty is in our hands It's part of the plan, Or is it a state of mind? Horses and men, Horses and men are on the field, They didn't yield. Many have fallen here; Never forget Never forget what they have done, The time will come, When it will change again. Never forget! "Americana" - Well I'd like to tell you all about my dream, it's a place where stripmalls abound and diversion's mere moments away, where culture's defined by the ones least refined and you'll be left behind if you don't fit in, it's all distorted in americana my way, well f### you, well my dream has come true, so give me my cable, fast food, four-bys, tats right away, I want it right now cuz my ge-generation don't like to wait, my future's determined by thieves, thugs, and vermin, it's quite an excursion, but it's okay, everything's backwards in americana my way, well f### you, my dream has come true, I'm a product of my environment, so don't blame me, I just work here, but I wanna f### you, my rights are denied by those least qualified, trading profit for pride, but it's okay, everything's backwards in americana my way, well f### you, my nightmare has come true, my nightmare has come true, yeah it's all coming true.

"Tehran"/"Baghdad", "Out On Patrol" - Look at you soldier boy, now, with that big gun in your little hand, as you patrol this foreign land herr the mine that clicks beneath your feet, now do you see the light, fading while your world is crumbling? Out on patrol, and all you can do is sit and stare, what revelation have you now, what culmination to your speck of life, your moment in time. Now you sit there all alone while your buddies come to save your life, as the enemy appears see your life flash before your eyes, it's your life, it's your life, it's your life, it's your life, it's your life, it's your life, uno dos tres cuatro.

"We Are 138" - We are one thirty-eight, We are one thirty-eight, We are one thirty-eight In the eyes of tiger, Do you think we're robot clean? Does this face look almost mean? Is it time to be an android, not a man? The pleasantries are gone, we're stripped of all we were, In the eyes of tiger, we are one thirty eight...

"Last Caress" - (think of this song in the same terms as the movie BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. A song sung by a fictional character who has committed unspeakable acts of trespassing, and can no longer live with himself. It reinforces libertarian themes of right to life/liberty/property.) I've got something to say, I killed a baby today, and it doesn't matter much to me as long as it's dead. I've got something to say, I raped your mother today, and it doesn't matter much to me as long as she spread. Sweet lovely death, I'm waiting for your breath, come sweet death, one last caress.

MEDIA BLITZ ( 1:30 ) I've got television I've got supervision No decisons for you Media blitz-media Blitz Immediate hits-we rule Don't steal your eyes off the TV screen Can you realize we're what we've seen Take an injection from the mad machine Don't read the papers read between the lines We're vision rapers and we seed the signs You'll play your part in the master mind We feed the science We deal in riots We play by ideal time We're a gov'ment fix All social convicts Watch the idle rhymes Chorus Bleed your heart out-that's all it's worth Before you ever start-we planned it first Forget the truth-accept your curse
COMMUNIST EYES ( 2:13 ) I'm looking through Communist eyes I'm seeing planes in bloodshot skies I see the flag of a working people Who conceal the lies in the stars and sickle It's a double edge Communist eyes-- c'mon inside I can't ever find the way out Communist eyes-- lost inside I never get a day out I'm looking through communist eyes All I see is an old man's alibi There's a world outside but I'm unaware I open my books but the pages stare It's a double edge Communist eyes-- all so blind I can't even play the game now I'm living through Communist times I wave my flag and hold my head high I can feel the glory of my comrades in masses But I'm waiting for the day when this madness passes It's a double edge...
