Thomas Walker, Abolition Party nominee for President at OurCampaigns, addressed a noontime crowd today at CrossRoads shopping center in Downtown Salt Lake City.
I am here today to announce yet another plank of our Abolition Party platform. We need to work on cleaning up the candidate database at OurCampaigns. This may not be a major issue to most, but it is something that should be done, to ensure a more thorough and accurate website. First, we need to consolidate candidates together who have more than one entry in the database. I believe the Presidents cabinet should have a Secretary of Data Integrity. I know there are a number of multiple entries for the same candidates. Off hand, I recall Shirley Chisholm, Parley P Christensen, Maurice Morrie Taylor, and Frank Fasi, to name but a few.
Another way to keep our database more accurate is to set up a mechanism where users who add candidates to contests can view the candidate before entering them. This could be done by having an optional pop-up box to show the page for the candidate, when one isn't sure if it is the same person or not. If it weren't for listing birth and death records, there would be at least three Robert Taft's for Ohio. We need a way to make sure the right candidate is entered in a race, but that that candidate also has only one entry in the database.
I will not personally be issuing press releases for the next few days, as I begin my 'Campaign for us all'. I will be traveling across the country in a recreational vehicle, in order to meet as many americans as possible. You matter to me, and I want to get out and meet you in your own communities, and find out your interests and concerns. I have only personally been in 31 different states, and hopefully this endeavor will allow me to visit a few more.
I would like to personally thank Seth Hinshaw for endorsing my candidacy. I truly appreciate it Seth. I encourage others out there to join with me as well. Ours is a campaign to represent ALL users at OurCampaigns. I am not beholden to one political party, and neither should the members here. Vote for who will serve and represent you the best. What is a Republican, is it Tom DeLay or Paul McCloskey? Who knows? Likewise, what is a Democrat? Is it Zell Miller or Charles Schumer? Who knows? Myself and Dave Jones are concerned, dedicated, independent minded voters like yourself, striving to fight for and represent ALL interests at OurCampaigns.
Be sure to follow the campaign on C-Span2, which recently started following our candidacy. Also, David Koch, 1980 Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee, has once again donated the funds to my campaign in order for us to air a prime time one hour special on the eve of the election, this time on UPN. So far, only Scott Mattson, Bob Heaney and Matthew Easton have received Security protection provided by OurCampaigns founder Randy Parker. This is fine with me, for I would rather get closer to the public, and see what needs to be done, and then do it!
Thank you for coming here today. And to those not here in person, thank you for watching this tape or reading this report. Together, we all will come out on top.
A vote for Walker-Jones is a win for us all.
