I am an 18 year-old college freshman. I live in Western New York with my mom, dad, little brother, and little sister. I am a Health and Human Services major with a concentration in Early Childhood. My ultimate career goal lies in child/adolescent psychiatric medicine.
Although I am quite busy with school, volunteer work, employment, and other activities, I still have time to sit down and think about what life has been like during the past five years. Adolescence has not left me unmarked. I am also one of Ophelia's daughters. Personal struggles have resulted in laughter, pain, smiles, and tears, but I realize that everything has made me the person I am today.
I was once told that the most important thing you can do is make peace with yourself, because in the end, you are all you have left. There is truth in this statement, as well as the knowledge that peace-making is a life-long skill, and making peace with yourself may be the most difficult thing you do in your lifetime.
