Olivine hails from northeastern United States.
Olivine began taking form in the mid nineties when Randy Lagasse and Matt Manning joined musical forces. They named their band Neuman's Neuman and all was good. They played a few songs of their own, but mostly (as far as I know) specialized in Melvins. Something happened that I don't know about, and that band ended.
Years later, (sometime around 2003?) Justin Laing joined a band with Matt, Bob Falzano (yes, THE Bob Falzano!), and a guy I don't really know named Stephan. They played metal; and looked metal. With the BOB behind drums though, anyone would look metal.
Around the end of these sessions, Matt and Micah Femino were jamming some here and there. The metal band fell apart when Bob went to tour with Annihilator. So Matt and Micah asked Justin if he would like to jam, and maybe write a few songs. After a few jam sessions, and some really gritty recordings, we thought we might have something. So Matt called up Randy, and after a little razz mitazzing, Olivine was born.
Olivine talks in the third person. Just like:
