Editor-In-Chief

Description:

The Editor-In-Chief will supervise the editorial department and be responsible for maintaining editorial direction of the magazine in order to uphold the standard and mission within the department. He/She will serve as the representative of the department when working with other department heads and be responsible for reporting on the department's progress. He/She will serve as the public representative for the magazine. The Editor will also work with the Creative Director to ensure complimentary relation of text and imagery.

Responsibilities:

The Editor is responsible for staffing of the entire Editorial department. Other responsibilities may include editing of written materials, research, conducting interviews, writing, and working with writers.

Qualifications:

The Editorial Director must have exceptional writing, editing, and critical thinking skills, as well as a strong understanding of the community represented within the magazine. Must be knowledgeable in hip hop music and culture. The ability to think critically and creatively is crucial to the position in order to create innovative content. This position also requires strong organizational and communication skills. Basic computer knowledge is necessary. Experience in the magazine industry is preferred. Must be self-motivated and respect all deadlines.

Pay: Quarterly Stipend

Hours: 20-25 hours per week
