Mood:  lyrical
Now Playing: Waylon "Rose in Paradise"
Topic: Extended Vacation
Well damn the luck, busted again. In true "Grifter" style I took my latest ride with the boys in blue to Upshur Co. detention center the other day. Sad thing is, it was a day before I moved there. Well I guess as long as I don't have to take that 2-10 year vacation things will be OK. Moved out to the country and found some time to brush up some old and whip up some new tunes. I tentatively plan to release an acoustic CD sometime next spring. In the meantime I'm working on uploading some clips of what I have so far. THANX for all the support and come back soon!

Getting Busy!!!
Hey Folks,
It's been a while! Have no fear we've all been busy studying, practicing, rehearsing, and writing. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the projects with which I am involved. I guess the major focus lately has been the development and improvement of:
Standing Flat.
We will be making our debut 9pm Feb. 22nd at:
Club Dada---Dallas Texas

Last Minute Change!
As much as I hate to report it, our show at Fast Freddy's has been canceled due to club management changes. We were quite excited about this show as it was the debut of the May Day Band. I booked this show as a two man act and then added the great sounds of three more artists. Well, last Thursday I went to speak with the new manager about drink specials for that night for promotional purposes. I was very shocked to hear "We can't afford your band, besides it's karaoke night."
Hey Tim, your loss! I know it doesn't sound like great numbers musically, but I can list at least 40 followers that never set foot in Freddy's who had made plans for that night! Do the math man, that's 20 dollars per head minimum. You can't afford us???!!!
I'm truly sorry I had to make all those phone calls to You great people on Saturday, but there will be another day coming soon. THANX for Your support!!!

The Coffee Cup
As always we had a great time at The Coffee Cup in Pittsburg. THANX to all who came out. I guess one of the reasons we love this particular venue is the atmosphere. You folks know I love my Cold Keystone but it's still nice to perform shows where our fans, young and old alike, are more than welcome. We will be returning there on the 23rd of next month. Thank You Gus and Janet!

Ringin' In The New
Man, 2003 was one helluva great year! One great big THANX to all who supported me throughout the year. Not only were the fans wonderful, so were all the musicians with whom I have shared the stage.
Throughout format changes, I have lost over half of the listings for appearances that I have made in the past year. I did, however, manage to determine from calander references, e-mails, and, post-it notes, that I took part in over 70 shows last year. One of my biggest new year's resolutions is to double that number in 2004!
And so the year begins! May Day will be performing at 'The Coffee Cup' in Pittsburg tommorrow evening from 8-10. This is a great place to relax and just hang out. You can't beat the atmosphere and the music is always pretty damned good too! See You all soon.

Reassurance for Standing Flat Fans!!!
Robert, Mike, Jim, and I had one outstanding rehearsal today! Not only did we cover a lot of ground on originals, we ended the day with an improptu version of a great Waylon song: "Are You Sure Hank Done It this Way"! In a nutshell, that pretty much told us all that we have a great thing going on. Not only are we great writers and performers, we are good at giving folks a wide variety of cover tunes. Like I said "We're gonna soar in 2004."
Trust me, if You're a diehard Standing Flat fan, You are gonna see a helluva lot of us for years to come!
THANX guys for letting me be a part of it.

Will the new year ever get here?
Hey Folks,
I'm begining to think that this is the everlasting gobstopping year to end all years. Not really, I'm just ready to start a new one. I've taken things a little slower throught the holidays but it is almost time to soar in 2004!
Jim and I worked on what's taking place with May Day earlier today. We have a great line-up worked up for next year. Our first show is coming up this Friday at The Coffee Cup in Pittsburg. This seems to be one of our favorite venues and we should have a great show there!
The next scheduled booking for us is at Fast Freddy's in Longview. Oh Yeah, I guess I forgot to mention that May Day has taken on a new facade. We have added guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Robert Smith and drummer/joker/babe-hound Mike Meador to our act. Damnit, how could I ever forget bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Clint Zuliger. A lot of You know these guys as "Standing Flat"! Have no fear, SF is still going strong but only as a strictly original band. Make You coice, either way it's flat out one great band to see!
Jim and I will still be pursuing the acoustic gigs that all of You have come to love but You'll be seeing more of "THE MAY DAY BAND" kicking a** with many originals and a whole lot of great cover tunes in 2004!!!
Come see us ASAP!
