TwinReverb in 1999, Live On KWPM
TwinReverb slowly turned into Gruene County. Here is the old band. We were playing a live radio show at KWPM. Left To Right: Joey Rowlett, Sam Warren, Me, Patrick Burke, Nick

I moved around as a teenager. One school to another. One state to another. Not a military brat, my dad just like changing jobs. I lived in Missouri, Minnesota, and Texas. Along with several cities in each state, until I ran away from home as a junior in high-school. I came back to missouri where my mom lived, and have stayed here ever since.

Howell County, MO

The real Gruene County is actually Howell County, MO. Here's a pic of home, taken just down the road from my radio station in the fog. Notice the Texaco sign in the back, written about in some of our songs.

I started playing music as a kid, and writing music to get out my emotions as a teen. Because of that I tend to write sappy love songs better than anything else. I was turned on early to the loner lifestyle by moving around so much. So it wasn't surprising that I picked an interest in music that reflected my rebelious life as a kid. Alt. Country was called americana back then and was headed by the new stuff Johnny Cash was doing. Songs like Rusty Cage, and new groups like The Delevantes, and BR5-49 were spinning their own type of tunes. I got into radio when I was 16, went on the air at 17, and did it all for the purpose of getting my foot in the door to the music biz.

Me On Stage in MAmmoth Spring, AR with GC

In radio I met quite a few stars, and had the chance to learn a trade. Also learned a lot about marketing, promotion, and digital recording. But the lesson that has stuck with me is how evil Nashville is, from either side of the fence. I've been on the musician's side, and the business side. Both views suck when you're staring toward Tennessee.

I've been married, and divorced, and have found that there is only one love you'll ever have in your life. I do regret not waiting for that love to come along before getting married. But, I consider myself lucky in that my love is with me now. Known only as Miranda on my blog, she's a doll & I love her... If only I could convince her to let me show you a picture of her!

Sometimes it seems like Miranda shares me with Nick... only because the band is such a big part of my life. We started this thing together, and I'm sure we'll end it together. From one night shows, and television appearances... We've done radio, and signed autographs, played on big stages in huge cities, been on the road, and played on street corners here in our own hometown. There's a thousand stories if ever you had the time to ask us about them all. There's something to be said for friendship and the bond of a fellow musician.

To sum it up, I'm a musician who hates nashville. I work in radio every morning and wish I didn't. I was born in 1978, (May). And I'm in love. So there, now you know something about LM. :)
