Since 1993, almost 400 infants, children, and women in the bordertown of Ciudad Juarez have been discovered gang-raped, ritualistically mutilated, tortured, and murdered. Some of their bodies have been found in the middle of busy intersections and others on government property -- with no explanation. Not one guilty person has been prosecuted for these crimes and they continue to this day, even spreading south to Chihuahua City.

Many of these women are workers in the Maquiladoras, factories from US companies that take advantage of cheap labor by building their factories in Mexico. Many of them have to travel on buses that drop them off on the outskirts of town, forced to walk home in dangerous conditions.

Since July of 2003, David Meza has been wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his cousin, Neyra Azucena. A partial list of reasons explaining his evidence:
- During the murder, which occured in Chihuahua, David and other witnesses have testified that he was hours away in the city of Chiapas
- It is an accepted fact that David was severely tortured into confessing, yet the judge and other authorities will not acknowledge this
- Since the day she disappeared, David was active in seeking justice for his cousin. It has recently been discovered that some of the officials who ordered his torture are being investigated in crimes related to narcotrafficking
- The skull of the body that the police claimed was Neyra's was sent to the United States to be examined. It was actually the skull of an older man, proving the tampering of evidence by the police
- The body was discovered on government property, land that is under constant surveillance. Authorities claim that David carried Neyra's body to the top of a mountain on this property by himself. However, it is impossible to reach the place her body was found while carrying a body without assistance. During the day of her body's discovery, local villagers witnessed helicopters surrounding the area - more evidence of corruption.
- David lived in Los Angeles for nine years as an organizer for immigrant rights. He does not have a prior criminal record.

David's sentencing is scheduled in March. Join us in the campaign to demand justice for David as well as the women of Juarez and Chihuahua! Your efforts will not go unnoticed. If you are unable to attend one of these planning meetings but still wish to be a part of the Justice Now! Campaign or would like more information, please contact me ASAP through email at a.pansacola@gmail.com. IF YOU ARE LOCATED IN A DIFFERENT CITY OR UNIVERSITY, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU GET INVOLVED!
