Cat AdopTion Service is a no-kill, all-volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and permanent placement of homeless cats and kittens.
We have no “main shelter”; our cats temporarily cared for through a network of foster homes throughout San Diego County when they are not at an adoption location.
Since our goal is a life-long adoption for every cat or kitten, we will annul any adoption for any reason within one week (or longer upon special agreement, such as where a slow introduction to a resident pet is involved).
Minimum adoption fees ($50 to $100) cover the cost of basic health care and food/shelter for those relatively few healthy cats with a quick adoption time.
Applications and Agreements are legally binding. Be honest!
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
Our cats come from a variety of places:
Some of our cats were relinquished by former owners who did not live up to their responsibility to provide a loving lifetime care for their pet.
Some were relinquished because the owner died or is too sick to care for the cats.
Some of our cats are abandoned pets found mixing in colonies of feral (wild, untamed) cats, and were rescued by the people that feed the cats in those colonies.
Some of our cats were kittens born in the wild, then rescued, tamed and made healthy by our dedicated foster homes.
Some of our cats were rescued from local city and county shelters where they were next on death row.
Before they came into our care, these cats had been discarded, abandoned, left to fend for themselves. They need your love and kindness for the rest of their lives.
