Way back in the day when they were teenagers, a young lad named Trevor McNevan decided to start a rap group. Along with Joel Bruyere and some other young men. While this endeavor may not have been musically successful, it foreshadowed the beginnings of Thousand Foot Krutch.
Many long and painful years later, with his voice and musical talent more fully developed, Trevor decided to re-enter the world of music with his new band. Based in Peterborough, the group of Trevor, Dave Smith, Tim Baxter, and Christian Harvey formed and started with the sweet tunes.
Changes came with the years. As the group grew musically, some members came and went, bringing with them and leaving musical depth and style.
Bassist Tim Baxter's departure lead first to a replacement named Paul Pedasiuk; then to Joel Bruyere, the amazingly talented bassist who tears up the stage with TFK.
The band also went through some drummers. The original, Christian Harvey, left, and Geoff Laforet came to fill his shoes, big as they were. Geoff stayed with the band for many long and productive months and months and months.
By this time, Thousand Foot Krutch had grown. With the help playing at venues such as Back40 and the Gordon Best Theater in Ontario, as well as their hometown of Peterborough; their touring to many places around North America, such as Cornerstone; and many loyal, dedicated, totally Krutchified fans who remained loyal through the years; their fame had grown. Not only had the band grew in fame, musically they had attained a level which would rival any band in any genre of music today.
With the release of "That's What People Do" and the recent "Set It Off" under their belts, and experience playing with bands famous in the secular market, such as Treble Charger and Finger Eleven, TFK's broad fan base expanded.
The departure of Geoff Laforet left many fans saddened to see him go, as well as hold their breaths as to what would happen with TFK. Who could possibly replace Geoff? This worried some, especially as the band had grown so much with Geoff's drumming.
They had no need to worry. Steve Augustine joined the band in 2001 as their new drummer. Not only does Steve do an incredible job on drums, he keeps up the reputation Thousand Foot Krutch has as being a band with 4 REALLY NICE guys in it. They're real, not stuck-up or snobby like some bands. They're still the nicest band this side of the border. They're the real thing ;) And they love God. And they rock!! What more could you ask for?
Now, as well as outreach to the world around them through their positive message, they still play shows to encourage their Christian fans.
