Setup Hotkey Dialog

Overview

[1] This box contains a list of actions that your hotkey can make when triggered. Here are those actions:

  • Run File. This is simple enough; after pressing your hotkey, the selected application/file will be run.
  • Open a website. This will run your default web browser and open a website.
  • Open command prompt. This will run the command prompt on your machine.
  • Browse to folder. This will open Windows Explorer to a folder of your choice.

[2] This text box is called the parameter box. It's use depends on the action that you choose.
  • For Run File. The text box is the filename of the file/application to be run.
  • For Open a website. The text box is the URL of the website you wish to open.
  • For Open command prompt. The text box contains any parameters you wish to pass to the command prompt. This is optional.
  • For Browse to folder. The text box is the path of the folder you wish to open.

[3] This button is only available for the Run File and Browse to folder applications. It will open a dialog allowing you to choose the file/folder to open

[4] This button allows you to "test" the hotkey's action. You definitely want your action to work before setting it to the hotkey! In the case of the screenshot above, pressing Test will run Notepad.

[5] The OK button will save your changes to the selected hotkey and close this dialog.

[6] The Cancel button will close this dialog without saving any changes.
