Before I begin to desribe Java and what it is, I will give a brief introduction to the history of this technology so that those who may be computer illiterate can follow along just as well..

Java was founded by the director of the Science Office for Sun Microsystems, John Gage and by Marc Andreessen (cofounder and vice president of Netscape) on May 23, 1995. At this time, the entire Java technology team consisted of less than 30 people. However, it was these individuals that would forever change the computer technology industry.

 

• Java is a relatively new computer programming language developed by a company called Sun Microsystems.
  
• It is predicted by industry leaders to be the first successful computer language in decades.
  
• Java programs can be distributed through the web to any user.
  
• Netscape incorporates Java in every browser.
