I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but my
parents are immigrants of the Southeast country of
Cambodia, which borders Thailand and Vietnam. They
came here in the early 80's just escaping the
tragedies of political fighting in their home country,
and seeking refuge here in the U.S. They were
sponsored into America by a family of Christians and
their church based in Philadelphia. My parents had
nothing but each other when they first arrived in this
country as immigrants but they received a lot of
support from Jack Vooloo, the Pastor of the Christian
Church that sponsored them. Just shortly after my
parents came to Philadelphia, I was born and three
years later I got a baby brother as well. My family
and I moved here back in the late 80's but we've also
moved around a bit within California. We've lived in
Stockton, Bakersfield and of course here in Fresno as
well. Fresno is where I've spent most of my life and
I feel its a city thats not too big or too small. I'm
glad to be able to call this place my home. I'm a senior here at Fresno State where I am studying business administration with an option in Accountancy. I enjoy many things in life but over the years and especially during my college years, I learned something very important that I feel is very special. It has changed my life and I now live everyday through this frame of thinking. I realized that there are so many different issues, ideas, emotions, problems, factors, variables, in life that if one were to try and think of it all at once, it would be impossible. I want to try and simplify life as much as I can but also at the same time remembering that life will never be simple. I have made a stance and from here is where I will grow forth. I have made a promise to myself that I will until the day I die follow in the pursuit of learning. Does this all sound a bit too philosophical for you all? Maybe it does and I'll be the first to admit to it but I now see life totally different and I am ready for what ever comes my way.
