Martin Luther Quotes.....
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: Luther was a character, and a Godly one at that.....
Topic: Favorite Quotes

Though I do not totally agree with all his views, I have  found a lot of insight in these quotes of Martin Luther a great man of God (Father of the Lutheran Movement)......

Be thou comforted, little dog, Thou too in Resurrection shall have a little golden tail. ~ Martin Luther ~

God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars. ~ Martin Luther ~

Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us. ~ Martin Luther ~

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.  ~ Martin Luther ~

Every man must do two things alone; he must do his own believing and his own dying.  ~ Martin Luther ~

Everything that is done in the world is done by hope. ~ Martin Luther ~

Faith is a living, daring confidence in God's grace, so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times. ~ Martin Luther ~

First I shake the whole Apple tree, that the ripest might fall. Then I climb the tree and shake each limb, and then each branch and then each twig, and then I look under each leaf. ~ Martin Luther ~

For where God built a church, there the Devil would also build a chapel.           ~ Martin Luther ~

Forgiveness is God's command.  ~ Martin Luther ~

God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars.  ~ Martin Luther ~

Grant that I may not pray alone with the mouth; help me that I may pray from the depths of my heart.  ~ Martin Luther ~

I am afraid that the schools will prove the very gates of hell, unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures and engraving them in the heart of the youth. ~ Martin Luther ~

I shall never be a heretic; I may err in dispute, but I do not wish to decide anything finally; on the other hand, I am not bound by the opinions of men. ~ Martin Luther ~

If I am not allowed to laugh in heaven, I don't want to go there.                ~ Martin Luther ~~~ DITTO!~~

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.

About Committees..and the like...
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Vance Havner quotes, and the greatest lesson I learned from him...
Topic: Favorite Quotes

I was listening to a sermon by A.W. Tozer about prayer....He spoke about committees, and yes I remembered when I pastored, and how for every project of any type ...there was a committee..........Tozer quoted Vance Havner....

"A “COMMITTEE” is a company of the incompetent, chosen by the unwilling, to do the unnecessary"...Vance Havner

LOL there is a bit of the truth in that one....When I moved to Greensboro N.C. in the eighties I lived near UNCG...next to the parking lot of "The Baptist" church. When I would go on my runs or walks, I would many times pass this elderly man out walking with cane in hand....I was asked by my landlord, do you know who that man is? No...."that's Vance Havner" I was later to visit a church where he ministered one of the last times before going on to the Lord.

There people had to help this elderly man up into the pulpit, and he spoke with a slow "old man" tone of voice, and I thought "well this will be a long sermon...I hope I do not get sleepy", and then something happened there..........the anointing of God came upon Dr. Havner, and there was a different man in that pulpit...a man of God.years younger in voice and dleivery..I was blessed to see that, and later on I was to understand that more. Days when I was so bone tired to minister or later on work......I prayed and knew His touch , His anointing empowered me for the task at hand.......

I will always remember Vance Havner deliverying that sermon, and for quoting his world famous quote that day..."God has gone before me and opened doors I couldn't have entered with a crowbar." I will also remember this old man walking alone along the sidewalks of Greensboro North Carolina, a seemingly old, average elderly man...yet a yielded "Giant" in the ministry...a a man who said he liked to walk in cemeteries because no one bothered you there....LOL.

Have a blessed day! Tim

A reminder of our God permitted rights in the US!
Mood:  sharp
Now Playing: May you be grateful to those a paid a price for you to be free!
Topic: Favorite Quotes

On This Veterans, let us remember the price paid by others, for us to have the freedoms we have in this country and for others around the world....

The Late Peter Marshal U.S. Senate Chaplain said in a prayer to The Lord ....." May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right. "

Many do not realize about the story of courage in battle in the scripture, and King David our forefather in the faith..of his reaction to their loyalty!

The Story 2 Samuel 23:

2 Samuel 23:

1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

13 And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

14 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

Give honor to whom honor is due,and to Jesus who has blessed us with them..........Blessings to You this Veterans Day, Brother Timothy

On Being A Christian!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Favorite Quotes

I heard a minister recently say that "Going to church no more makes you a Christian than would going t McDonalds would make you a Happy Meal!"....LOL!

My take on that hilarious but true illustration is "what you recieve there is of great importance"....at Church do you recieve of the Spirit, like at McDonalds where you would recieve a Bic Mac?? It will so show on you and within you know.......So Lord Jesus can you Super Size my order Please! :)....

2 Corinthians 10:

13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

16 To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

 Ephesians 4:

7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Abraham Lincoln
Mood:  sharp
Topic: Favorite Quotes

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.." Abraham Lincoln

I love this wisdom, but it does not point to the souce of overcoming! I am sure it is pulled out of context where the source might be alluded to. I once saw a television evangelist spend several show trying to show Lincoln was a Christian....LOL...well bottom line ....you want to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on air time trying to prove someone was a Christian when you should be dwelling on the more heavier things.....I am sure Ole Abe might just be looking down from Heaven shaking his head..over that one...

What could be and should be pointed to, that for this ideal that Lincoln brought forth can only be achieved when people come to the Lord Jesus, and are consistently seeking first The Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all those things will be added unto you!

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Selah!

In Him,

Brother Tim

“I cannot understand how
God can give to any of His
children glory and virtue,
but it nevertheless is true
that He does… There is
something about believing in
God, that makes God willing
to pass over a million people
just to anoint you. I believe
God will always turn out to
meet you on a special line if
you dare to believe Him.”

St. Francis Quotes
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Favorite Quotes

Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.

While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.

If God can work through me, he can work through anyone.

I have been all things unholy. If God can work through me, he can work through anyone.

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

St. Francis of Assisi
