Daytona Tragedy
Heaven must have needed a special angel that could really go fast ..to take this gentle man... He died where he found the most satisfaction out of his racing wins..his final capture of the Daytona 500 1998.
Going into the last turn towards that coveted checkered flag as victory was in site.
While his Racing Team(that he was blocking for) and him coming in third after his son, Dale Jr. in the #8 ,in second and his own race car in the #1 position with Michael Waltrip driving ,his Boss's car to Victory. And Winnering the opening Day running of The Daytona 500.2001
We Lost a Good Man in the last turn heading for the checkered flag.
Dale Sr unfortunately never lived to see it. He died on impact.
The Racing family and us Fans have lost The Best of the Best.
May you reach that checkered Flag as you watch over your sons again and again in years to come... with that sweet smile on your face and pride in your heart.
You will be sorely Missed. April 1951-Febuary 2001
And the Legend will live Forever in our Hearts
