The History of Crispy Critters stems back to 1962 when it was first released. it was known then as "The one and only cereal that comes in the shape of animals". Crispy Critters was a sugar-coated animal shaped cereal. It, along with other cereals at that time had a cast of characters. After being discontinued, it was reissued for a limited time in the late 80's around 1987-1988.
