Saturday Nov. 1st - Xela/Miranda Sound

Xela's back again and we're very happy about that. Opening the evening off will be Miranda Sound from Columbus. The band's record Engaged in Labor is on the Standard Recording label, and they've received much-deserved spectacular reviews for the album. Recent high-profile gigs included a performance at Lollapalooza on the second stage, a showcase at NEMO in Boston, and a shared bill with Jets to Brazil.So come show your support for these out-of-towners. Don't forget, we have all of Xela's releases for sale at the shop for $5.

October 22nd -

Elliot Smith died today. He sustained a single self inflicted stab wound to the chest. He was 34.

We are very saddened by this news. We lost one of the greatest songwriters of our time. Elliot's music was amazingly beautiful. Introspective yet on his sleave, Elliot turned his already poetic lyrics into beautiful melodies with angelic harmonies. He was one of our favorites. He will be missed. - jm

October 7th, 2003 -

We are pleased to announce the forming of Cellar Door Records. Our first release will be a compilation CD with some of our favorite artists including The Wood and Wires, Swimming with Angels, No Reply, Xela and Ten Cent Glamour. The CD will be released at our show on the 25th of October. It will be the first of many upcoming releases.

In other news, we will be hosting a Halloween Party on Friday October 31st at 10pm. Costumes are encouraged.

Miranda Sound, an extremely talented band from Columbus OH will be opening up for Xela on November 1st. Your attendance is encouraged. They're on the road promoting their indie label release so they can use as much support as they can get. http://www.mirandasound.com/

September 21st -

We're pleased to announce our first big show. On saturday October 25th we've assembled some of the best local bands around for one big kick off night. Starting the night off will be the intense driving power trio "Through each eye." Then PA based melodic rock band "Ten Cent Glamour" will perform. The post hardcore stylings of Madison's own "No Reply" will follow. Headlining the night will be "The wood and wires."

We will be charging $3 at the door for this show in order to support the bands. All the tables and chairs will be removed so it will be standing room only. Doors at 7. Show at 8..

Cellar Door will be releasing a small scale monthly publication to showcase the talents of local writers. If you write fiction our prose or whatever, and would like your work to be considered. Please email it to cellardoorcoffee@hotmail.com or you can drop a disk off at the shop.
