MAIN EVENT
Mood:  don't ask
MAIN EVENT

The late, great, astronomer Carl Jung once said, “Somewhere, something great is waiting to be known”. Many would assume that he was referring to distant galaxies or extraterrestrial life, but some would argue that he was talking about Michigan’s best kept secret, The Main Event.

The Main Event is a 24 year old MC/producer who effortlessly shifts from gritty street poet to beat-maker extraordinaire. Lyrically profound and musically proficient, this multi-talented artist first honed his skills as an adolescent performing in talent showcases and recording mixtapes as a member of the Lexington, Kentucky crew, Madd Militia. However, in 2001, he took the Midwest hip-hop scene by storm when he became a member of the Neo Griot Collective, a Flint-based collage of MCs, poets, singers, dancers, musicians, and writers. It was with Neo Griot that Main Event (formerly known as Supreme) went on to form Mystic Melodic Music, an independent record label and ThundaTrakz, a three –man production team. Under the musical guidance, production and gritty rhyme style of Main Event, Mystic Melodic Music released two critically acclaimed full length LPs.

The first album, “Verbal Libation” a cinematic blend of soaring violins, soul-stirring bass lines, and socially conscious lyrics flowed seamlessly between hard hitting hip-hop lyricism and poetic reflection. Main Event was featured extensively, the major contributor of both vocals and production on the album.

In 2003, Main Event (Supreme) released his debut solo album, “Supreme Court”. The album garnered a huge response in the MI area and created a buzz not only for the Neo Griot Collective, but for the multi-faceted artist then known as Supreme.

Deciding to branch out, Main Event launched, Cadre Education, an independent record label dedicated to utilizing hip-hop as a form of community upliftment and education. He went on to release the mixtape, “Hot Lava Saliva” and the compilation album “Severe Migraines”.

Currently Main Event is collaborating with Bac 40 Records to release his second LP, “Feature Presentation”. The prequel to “Feature Presentation” is an EP/snippet disc entitled “The Previews”.

In addition, he works in an artist development/mentoring capacity with Bac 40 records, working to shape their artists in the areas of recording, stage performance and presentation.
