Black Christmas

Monday, August 6, 2007
Well, I stopped making updates to this site about four months ago, but I'm not gone! I've formed this site to how I want it, so I won't be making any big changes, but I will be checking in on it and doing small updates/news here and there. I've decided to start doing some work on a site that I started last September but never completed, for the 1977 horror movie "Alice, Sweet Alice". You can visit that site here. In the meantime, I'm busy with school, work, and life - but I'm going to try and continue building my "Alice, Sweet Alice" website, and have it linked with this one, because "Black Christmas" and "Alice, Sweet Alice" are two of my favorite horror movies. Anyway, I'll be back later, and I'll definitely be checking in on here when November/December rolls around, because of the holiday season and all. If you want, check out my "Alice" site as I work on that. Thanks!

I have some tragic news to report - director Bob Clark died yesterday in a car collision, along with his 22 year old son in California. It's hard to believe this even happened, it seems so surreal.

"Director Bob Clark, who helmed the modern holiday classic A Christmas Story and was the writer-director-producer of the Porky's films, died in a car crash with his son on the Pacific Coast Highway early Wednesday morning; he was 67. According to police reports, Clark's car was hit head-on around 2:30am by an SUV that swerved into Clark's southbound lane; Clark and his 22 year-old son, Ariel, were pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver, who was driving without a license, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and is to be booked for gross vehicular manslaughter. The director of the 1974 cult horror film Black Christmas as well as the 1980 Jack Lemmon drama Tribute (which nabbed Lemmon a Best Actor Oscar nomination), Clark scored a major box office success in the early '80s with the teen sex comedy Porky's, a surprise hit that he wrote, directed and produced which became the highest-grossing film of 1982 and one of the highest-grossing films ever in Canada. Clark went on to helm the sequel, Porky's II: The Next Day, a year later, but it was another 1983 film that would become his most memorable. Based on humorist Jean Shepherd's short story collection In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash, A Christmas Story was the nostalgic and humorous tale of a young boy named Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) growing up in the 1940s who yearned for the ultimate Christmas gift, a Red Ryder BB gun. Also starring Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon, the comedy (which Clark directed, co-wrote and produced) was a modest success in its initial box office run but gained a strong and steady following through the next two decades, becoming a TV staple during the holiday season and a consistent seller on DVD. Clark's other films included the Dolly Parton-Sylvester Stallone comedy Rhinestone, Turk 182!, From the Hip, and the two Baby Geniuses movies. Recently, there had been talk of Howard Stern producing a remake of Porky's, and Clark had begun development on a remake of one of his first films, the horror movie Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things." - (from IMDb)

This is horrible news and I'm not really sure what to say about it... but I do hope that he is remembered for all of his great work in the movie industry, and for all of the wonderful films he brought to the screen. Bob Clark, rest in peace.

Spring break! A full week of freedom, right? I haven't updated for awhile, so I've been making a few touch-ups here and there on the site - not adding much new for the time being though. Hopefully, since I have some free time, I'll be able to do some more stuff, but I'm not sure - I may be going to spend time with family and I have to work as well. Anyway, I'll keep you posted on updates.

Well, I had no school today (yay for snow days) so I decided to update the site. I added a new fun stuff page, which includes a puzzle, a fan fiction page (start submitting yours now and I might post it on this site), and 25-question Black Christmas quiz. Check it out, it's really neat. I updated the navigation buttons on the message board as well. I've also made a few subtle changes here and there, so enjoy!

I've been making some touch-ups to the site today (no school, thank you President's Day!). I added a few more pictures to the image gallery, and also broke it up into four pages, for much quicker page loading. I also changed the style of the scrollbar, rather than a plain one, it's now in COLOR! Check back for future updates.

So, not much updates for the past month. I've been busy lately and haven't had much time to work with the site lately. I just updated the remake page with news of it's DVD release, and I'll be making a few changes here and there. As of now though, nothing new, yet.

Well, the holiday season is over, and the new year is about to roll in. I updated the remake page and made it less statistical, and gave a summary on the film, some pictures, and a couple links. It previously had a bunch of stuff on it, but now that it's in theaters I don't think it needs to be so technical. I removed the Polls page, because the messageboard has an automated Poll-creator where the board members can create their own polls, it's easier that way. Check out the messageboard, I created a whole new custom navigation bar (that looks quite good I have to admit) and I added a few new categories. Please, go join the messageboard! It's free, and you can discuss anything related to Black Christmas with other members. I need to get some more members on there, as of now there's only four. So go join, it's fun! I will continue to update the site, just because Christmas is over doesn't mean I'm done updating. Can't wait 'till next Christmas! Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Merry Christmas! I went and seen the Black Christmas remake today, and it was a pretty fun little movie. It was quite good, but a different good from the original. It's far less serious and much gorier, but it made for a fun slasher movie. Click here to read my full review for the movie. I hope everyone had a scary little Christmas, and make sure to check out the new remake. Well, 365 days 'till the next Black Christmas! I'll be updating periodically still throughout the year, just because the holiday season is over doesn't mean the updates are!

Well, not much on updates, but it's Christmas Eve! I hope all of you fans are popping the Black Christmas DVD into your DVD player, I plan on watching it tonight with all the lights off. Happy Holidays!

Not a whole lot going on, I made a few changes on the site and touched things up a bit, I'm kind of busy though with the holidays... speaking of, three days 'till Christmas (and the remake)! I plan on seeing the remake on Christmas Day, and I think I'll post my review of it on the site. Well, I gotta get to wrapping some gifts! Happy Holidays.

I added some really neat German lobby cards to the posters & ads page, and you can actually see Billy! There's also a few pictures of Mrs. Mac with a hook through her face, ones that I've never seen before. They're really neat, so go check 'em out! 6 days 'till Christmas!
