Nomic
I've found out about an interesting game called Nomic. I've joined a game about to start on this site:
www.artofproblemsolving.com
Other than that, not much has been happening. Right now I've been living off an alternating diet of mixed beans & rice and pizza, chips and baked beans. Today I sampled Bortelli.

Stupid edit button...
I've started a new literary endeavour, but I cannot post the first chapter because the computer refuses to load the page! If it were easier to do so, then I'd update the site much more often!
Oh well, what can you say?

Hello Hattie! Hello Everybody!
I got back my poem today that I wrote about a friend's eyes some time ago. The notebook in which it was penned has long since disappeared, but I'd given her a copy before it went missing.
Here it is:

Optical Eclipse

Blue eyes with golden rays no hint of green,
Eyes fairer than any I've ever seen,
Two constructs in the shape of an ellipse,
Your eyes are quite like a solar eclipse.

Like a shining sun covered by the moon,
A great orb granting the blue sky a boon,
In this way your eyes are sattelites,
As dark and mysterious as the night's.

Two works of art that make me want to say:
"Amy, may I gaze at your eyes all day?"
A statement to which an odd look would bring,
Then I would say: "Sorry, I was just asking."

Please don't take this as more comforting lies,
I really do like the look of your eyes!

What a beautiful day...
Hallo all!

This lunch we had barbequed sasuages and corn on the cob (for us vege's) out on a field by the college. The neighbours complained about the smoke and the caretaking guy came to say hi. We offered him a sausage and he said it was alright. Suzy found a tener on the floor and we all had fizzy drinks, sweets and cakes on her... I like Mondays. I've finished all my lessons by the beggining of lunch now I've a new time-table!

Feel free to click the comment button...
Also i've added a guestbook for a trial run period... Take care,

Joey

Reply!
Here's the reply I recieved:

Dear Joey,

thank you very much for your email.

you are of course right - the article was entirely meant to plug the book -
as it stimulated you enough to write i hope it's worked and you've ordered a
copy!!

As you probably expect, we are at odds. I am in favour of the stimulating
effect of competition and the capitalist model. But I am not blind to their
defects, and your case is a powerful one. Your case and mine, of course, are
not mutually exclusive. Both routes of middle class abdication - the overly
enthusiastic embrace of brand and commercialised lifestyle and the decline
of moral strictures can coexist - indeed, can feed one another. as you say,
counter-cultural logos are still logos - and logos of resentment of
'establishment' and order are powerful brands, and rebellion is an
attractive model.

thanks again - it was very interesting to read your thoughts and very
flattering that you took the time to write. if you do get a copy of the
book, I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on it - and the
criticisms are always more stimulating than the praise!

With best wishes,

Alex

Of all the words begining in 'R' it had to be revision...
At the college right now. Idling away the time. The forum I intended to visit is blocked. Vicci, please remove the 'p' word from the forum and I might be able to get on.

And why must hotmail be so slow? Oh well. I think I'll send a complaint to an author who I disagree with. Full story later if I get a reply...

Please Sir, when you drop the bomb, drop it right on me,,,
I put:
"Reassurance granted: I'll fetch two 3-foot long pieces of twine, lard and a pack of medicine spoons. You supply the live chickens and we'll make the most of day."

What more can I say?

How many French people like the new proposed EU Constitution? Non!
What's worse is I made that joke up on the spot and I almost laughed. (but not because it was funny)

I'm in Ilkeston right now, a little way a way from home and I'm trying to figure out how's best to meet up with old friends tomorrow.
