Bandits attack family after wedding
BANDITS Sunday night attacked a family on the Corentyne shortly after they had returned from a wedding.

Police said the attack by six masked men, including one with a handgun, took place at Sideline Dam, Portuguese Quarters, Corentyne, Berbice.

Five family members, including an overseas-based couple, were under their house eating when the men rushed into the yard and pointed a gun at them.

The family had just returned from a wedding ceremony, police said.

The bandits demanded cash and jewellery which the family handed over. The amount of cash and jewellery they gave the bandits was unknown, police said.

The overseas-based female was assaulted during the attack and the bandits fled through a cemetery, police reported.
