WANTED
fugitive, deportee Shawn Marco Gittens who had eluded the Police
since a wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest in June last year,
was yesterday morning killed in Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD),
according to reports.
Sources
told the Chronicle, Gittens was allegedly killed by Shawn Brown, one
of the two surviving members of the notorious five, over the rape by
Gittens of a teenage-female acquaintance of Brown, who subsequently
shot him.
The
Police Public Relations Office in a release yesterday said the body
of Gittens was discovered around midday yesterday, on Company Path,
Buxton, South of the Railway Embankment with multiple gunshot
wounds.
The
release said the deceased bandit who was wanted in connection with
the murder of policemen and civilians, a multiplicity of robberies
and kidnapping was found lying in a makeshift stretcher of
fertilizer bags, wrapped in a bed sheet with the feet bound with
shoe lace.
One
7.62 mm live round was found near the body.
The
wanted bulletin which the Police had issued for Gittens in 2002,
listed him as being 23 years of age and of 43 Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust,
Georgetown.
