What’s up all?
Hey, I’m Mike Matisz. I’d like to say I’m the “icing on the cake” with Absolute Xero. I play lead guitar, produce our music, and write a good portion of the songs. I’d also like to think that I am a co-front man with Jason. The band was completely his idea, and although I gave him his start as a vocalist, he caught me off guard by inviting me into this project that has shaped the way I look at music as a whole. My favorite stage experience was the same show as Jason’s. Just playing the guitar part for such a high-energy song was an experience that I cannot explain. My musical inspirations are a tad bit different than Jason’s because I go from life experiences. I’d have to say the people that influence me the most are:
1. Mike Shinoda (from Linkin Park) because he shaped the way that I think about music, not as something set in genres with guidelines, but a free-form art with no limits. I strive to become as close to him as a musician as possible.
2. Jason (my best friend/ “brother”) for realizing that this is a dream of mine, and for including me in this. For being patient with me when I can’t get HTML to work…GAH! Most of all, for being around and showing me that I can rely on people when it comes to music. I’ve never had the pleasure to work with someone as dedicated. You inspire me.
3. Off Edge (my first real band) for showing me the way, and allowing me to express myself through music. I’m sorry things didn’t work out, but I wish you all well. I’m thankful for the times we spent as a band, and I hope you all find happiness along the way.
4. Matt and Renée (my 2 best friends for years) because without you two, I’d probably be staring at the floor for hours with no one to think about. You two shaped my life so much.
5. Steve and Jimmy (Immanuel) for showing me another dimension of music. Although it was a short time that we played together, your Christian influence helped me become a strong musician and inspired me to help people through music. I have a message now and I will always lend you guys a hand if you need it.
I’m currently producing our demo CD that will be out by February, hopefully by January. We don’t have a title for the demo yet. But I can leak this much to you, it’s good and I like it.
