This interview took place the week of 6/22 over a few emails between myself and the band. Id like to thank Bill, Nick and Eric to taking time out of there busy ass tour to write back, and for agreeing to the interview in the first place. Thanks to Epic 550 for not being one of those bitch ass record companies that forces bands to ok it through them before doing random interviews like this. Ok....lets get to the questions, eh?

ufbufp: Heres a little silly ice breaker: If you had to describe Ultimate
Fakebook as an item of food, what kind would it be and why?

We're the 5lb. steak that if you eat it all in an hour,  it's free and you
get a t-shirt and your picture on the wall.  Why...because we have yet
to meet the human being who is able to digest the quantities of rock
we're capable of producing.

ufbufp: Now that you guys are on 550/Epic, do you have any plans for the future?

Go to Disneyland,  open for Kiss,  and become real 'playas'.

ufbufp: Arent fakebooks for "cheating" your way through a song. You guys have a
sound that is far from fake. Why the name?

All the band names beginning with 'super',  or a ending with a number were
taken up.

ufbufp: You three have been touring a bunch...any preference on fast food joints
or motels?

Easy.  Motel 6 and Taco Bell.  We live large cuz "these are the days".

ufbufp: What tape/cd is in the tour van now? Oh...and is there a Fakebook-mobile.
If so, what is it?

Well,  right at this exact moment we are listening to a live Flaming Lips
show on CD from 1995.  I guess our Silver 1994 Ford Van is our 'mobile'...
it's kinda getting on it's last legs though.  This baby's seen a lot!

ufbufp: I keep reading that you guys are big on Cheap Trick (correct me if Im
wrong), are their any other major musical influences.

Bill:  The Cure,  The Beatles,  Guided By Voices,  Journey,   Dokken.

Nick:  The Descendants,  The Pixies.

Eric:  Gene Simmons,  Paul Stanley,  Ace Frehley,  Peter Criss.

ufbufp: Emo, PowerPop, Rock, I never know how to describe your style of music, so
whats a better way then to you ask you guys. How would you label your style.

We feel we are in the P-Pemo musical category.  That's 'pee-pee-moe'.  Like
power pop and emo together!  :)  No...I don't know,  we just think of it as
rock and roll,  people can label us what ever they want.

ufbufp: If you could only play shows with one band the rest of your careers, who
would you want to tour with and why?

The Donnas...cuz their like, hot.  Or Britney Spears.  Ooops...I did it again!
I should watch that.

ufbufp: What is the answer to this:  16 divided by 2[8-3(4-2)] +1. Use order of
operations. Use of Calculators not premmitted.

I already told you...P-Pemo!!!  That's 'pee-pee-moe'.

ufbufp: Who's your merch guy? He has really nice to me at the Austin show you
played with PieBald.

I'm not sure who that guy is...he just showed up and started selling shit. ;)

ufbufp: Bill's presence onstage is fun as hell, reminds me of Davey vonBohlen of
the Promise Ring. How did that trademark "hand high in the sky in between
chords" thing come about.

Well you see,  I have to air out my armpits every now and then.

ufbufp: I will never forget Nick doing the worm on stage at the Round Rock duck
pond show. I imagine onstage antics run amuck with such a fun trio. Whats
the funniest or strangest thing thats happened onstage?

Well...here's top 3 UFB craziest on-stage memories:

1.  Nick wiping out on the very first note of our first song on the first
show of the
first Get Up Kids tour we did,  toppling into Ryan's brand new Black Beauty
Snare Drum.

2.  Eric jabbing himself directly in the eye with a drumstick in the middle
of a song,
finishing the rest of the set with his bloodied eyes closed.

3.  We had a show in Lawrence KS at the Bottleneck,  and we got called out for
an encore.  We said ok,  only if you guys come sing with us.  We played "Alex
Chilton" by the Replacements,  and I am not kidding we had like 80 people up
on
stage dancing and going crazy with us.  It was like a party....so much fun.

ufbufp: Random thought.....Bill, whats your vision?

I see an ancient city in ruins,  and daggars flying like wild creatures
towards
the mystic wizzards of yesterday's forgotten battles.  Wait,  or were you
making
fun of me cuz I'm blind?  :)

ufbufp: A lot of Bill's lyrics seem to talk about his high school days, what
were each of you like when you were 17.

We found that we were a jock,  a princess,  a basket case,  a geek,   and
a criminal.

ufbufp: As I wrap up this interview, Ive got one final question for you all: Are
You Ready to Rock?

Hmmm.....maybe this would be a good time to tell you about our new
direction...

;)
