Interview with Serena Valentino
Gloomcookie, Nightmares and Fairytales

...here you go. I hope it helps.
-Serena

1. What do you find most satisfying/least satisfying about creating comics?
Umm... being able to express myself artistically, tell stories, hearing that I have affected people or somehow inspired them with my stories. I can not think of anything that is not satisfying about writing comics.

2. What education/training would you suggest to someone interrested in creating comics?
That's a hard one. I went to school to teach drama... therefore I didn't go to school for my trade. I know there are art schools, comic book schools and of course there are creative and script writing classes one can take at any college...

3. (I find this question kinda rude, but this one's manditory in my paper) What salary range could I expect to start in this feild?
Expect to make NOTHING and be happy if you do make something... it really depends on the comic, the publisher and of course how well it sells. There is no average yearly income, and I can not tell you what I make.

4. What other companies had you worked for/concidered working for before Slave Labor Graphics?
SLG was the first publisher I approached. They were (and are) the only company I wanted (and still want) to work with.

5. What are the biggest challanges you face in this feild?
Collaborating with artists.

Thanks, and good luck with your project!
SQUISHINGS,
Serena
