Tim Williams was born to play the drums... this much is evident. We saw his
foot tapping on his mother's tummy before he was born. When he was four he asked for his own drum kit.
We saw him take to the instrument, his teachers, and the environment of drumming in general like someone putting on a pair of old jeans.
He performs with great feeling, strength, and expression. His easy command of his chosen instument, combined with his
apparent youth, has brought gasps of wonder from onlookers.
He is emerging as one of the most competent drummer/percussionists in the industry and all of this at the tender age of eleven. He is also a strong singer.
Most recently he was given instruction on the badhron by Davey Steele of Scotland's Battlefield Band, and he
has studied snare with the Guelph Pipe and Drum Band.
Chris Williams is an amazing, kind and diligent person.
He has great gifts for music, and is happy to have the opportunity to develop it and share it with others. At fourteen years
of age, Chris has been the focus of much attention and praise everywhere he performs, both as a gifted musician and as a fine
human being. His recorded performances for BBB's current disc, 'Skitterin' Up', were almost all captured in one take, both on
guitar and fiddle. He has special talents in the areas of sound equipment, arrangement, software technology, business, composition,
and performance. His calm and focused approach to life helps keep things moving and organized.
Chris plays electric guitar, fiddle, and bass. He also dabbles with drums, harmonica, cello, and piano, and composes songs.
He has studied snare with the Guelph Pipe and Drum Band. Chris has been performing with his family band, Black and Blue,
for over five years now, as well as teaching other kids. He sings strong backup vocals and has played festivals,
clubs, churches, senior's homes, and schools.
Stephen Williams is a seven year old wonder. Time and again he has
demonstrated a gift for music and entertainment. He began playing the harmonica at the age of two. From there he progressed to various other
rhythm and percussion instruments, and taught himself to play the piano. He also taught himself to step-dance. His musical
sense exhibits itself in the presentation of songs. Most recently, Steve has picked up the electric bass, after a lengthy 'workshop'
with Jeff Bird. With daily instruction from his eldest brother, Chris (who is a more than competent bassist), his command of the repertoire
is growing at a staggering pace. Also amazing is the speed with which he has stepped into a more demanding leadership role
in performances by playing excellently from the moment he picked up the instrument for the first time. Within days he was playing on the public
stage with the coolness of a seasoned pro. He has started composing tunes on the piano and bass, and contributes a lot of energy and excitement
to the performances of the Black and Blue Band. His sense of humour and engaging personality make for a special stage presence. He also sings.
Jake Willis, singer-songwriter, brings the microscope of modern analysis
to the popular song. Capturing Moments of human experience in clean pockets of emotion, he applies the imagination of a poet and novelist in the creation
of smooth puddles in which our life is clearly reflected. His intense acoustic guitar style creates an environment in which others are invited to share significant
life experiences, and bridges the gap between human understanding, enabling us to see, touch, and feel each other. His lyrics evoke worlds which are familiar to
the human soul, yet are still delightfully new. His rough tenor voice welcomes the suffering, sorrowful, and the lost into a world of shared
pleasure and responsibility. Jakes Northern Celtic music brings together various traditional and popular formats. He co-produced the CD 'Skitterin' Up.
He is a member of The Musicians' Association, The Songwriters' Association of Canada (SAC), SOCAN, and BMI.
Tammy Williams, The Black and Blue Band's calm beauty, adds grace and dimension
to their stage performances. Her instrumental arrangements (with the piano, keyboard, and whistle), and her haunting harmonies, lend a soulful element
to the arrangements. Tammy also mothers the band and oversees the technical and business side of their operation. As an emerging vocalist she
warms the soul and touches the aching heart.
Although Jake's roots are in Northern Ontario, Tammy's family are from the East Coast. Originally from St.John, New Brunswick, her father has now
settled in Nova Scotia. She feels a kinship with the spirit of Canada's Maritime music and culture. Tammy is an exponent of women's and
children's rights, and dignity.
