Matt Green here, just another follower and seeker. I was born and raised in Dalton, Georgia (you know that lovely town nestled in the hills of beautiful NW GA!). I am currently (and slowly!) working on a Bachelors in Recording Industry while attending Middle Tennessee State Uniniversity in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (another lovely town, yet not as lovely as The Big D-town). Enough of the proper who and the whereabouts... let's get to the gooder stuff! I first began writing songs in a high school band dubbed "Society's Hunny." Since that time my love and desire to write music has simply put overflowed from me to the world around. So although for me to live is Christ and to die is gain... writing songs is up there on the list. Yeah so what about this Christ Jesus thing, what's that all about anyway? My senior year in high school I became a Christian, and started writing songs about my faith. For some reason during this period of my life my words became more likened to cheap propaganda, albeit well written at times. I just felt there was a real need in my life to write good songs about things that mattered to me, in the existential sense. And yes at times this does of course include my faith in Jesus Christ.. with him being my love, Lord, and savior and all! It was during this time period, my breaking out, that this more wholistic need of expression was realized. And so my new journey began. After listening to Weezer for a few months I got together with a few other guys and we started a band we called "the Rickies". Most of these guys were members of a local Christian-punk band that had just broken up. Our collective goal was to write "Nerd Rock" songs. I loved the sound but it didnt come naturally for me. In the end we broke up before we played a single show, however through this experience I was able to write some quality "NERD ROCK!" songs. The other member's believed that I wrote better folk songs than rock, and that I sounded better alone. So they started a band called "Soul Dog". It was during this transition period that I began to embrace my FOLKINESS as it were, and thusly have tried to integrate some punk undertones to the folk songs I write. They are by no means punk songs proper and likewise they aren't traditional folk songs either. Rather they are... well... THE SONGS OF MATT GREEN, which tends to be a style that borrows from both punk and folk (and at times with a NERD rock feel). I am currently seeking the right fit as far as band members would go so as to record a CD with a full band until then this site will be about me, MATT GREEN, MY MUSIC, and thus MY SOUL. THIS IS THE MUSIC OF MATT GREEN!!!
