Teen People chat transcript 2
BBMak chatted with TEEN PEOPLE Online on February 13, 2001
HostTPZena: Good evening everyone! teenpeople.com is so pleased to welcome BBMak -- Christian Burns, Mark Barry and Ste McNally -- to chat this evening...We had these guys on last year and knew they would make a big splash in the States...and they sure have! Their hit singles, "Still on Your Side" and "Back Here" have made them TRL favorites, and their platinum album, Sooner or Later, got all the raves. We'll start with Christian tonight...How are you, Christian?
Christian Burns: Fine, thank you very much!
HostTPZena: I know our audience is very excited to have you here, so we'll get right into the questions...
Question: So guys how do you all keep in shape? How do you keep those great bods looking good?
Christian Burns: (laughs) I don't know that we have great bodies! On the road, we don't put a lot of weight on because we keep busy, so we keep nice and trim.
Question: What are your favorite movies?
Christian Burns: Mine are Back to the Future, The Rock and, I think, Apollo 13. They're really good stories -- great stories!
Question: In an interview I have seen that Mark had a secret -- it was that he was in the "body popping crew" when he was younger. I was wondering if he really does enjoy to dance because BBMak does not do that often. Thanks!!! Love ya! Gina
Christian Burns: Mark loves to dance! He was in the body popping crew. I'm not a really big dancer. I like to dance, though.
Question: What is the meaning behind "Love On The Outside"?
Christian Burns: It's about a guy who has fallen in love before and been hurt -- he falls in love again, but because he's been hurt, he can never fully trust a woman. He's very careful about that.
Question: I was wondering if you guys ever go online. I have heard that Christian goes on the Hollywood Records chat but I never seem to see him in there.
Christian Burns: Yes...I haven't been on in a while because I've been so busy, but my screen name is Burnsy58.
Question: Boxers or briefs?
Christian Burns: Briefs.
HostTPZena: Thanks Christian! Now we have Mark with us. Hello Mark!
Mark Barry: Hello everybody! Hope you are all very well. Long time no speak.
HostTPZena: Now, do you want to address the body popping crew rumor?
Mark Barry: Well, I was in that when I was about 8. I'm not a dancer -- I don't do any back flips. But I like to go out with my friends and dance.
Question: When you sing, why do you lose your accents?
Mark Barry: I don't think we lose them. What it is, is that we use American microphones, and that makes us sound American. When we sing, we use melodies and accents are different kinds of melody. When you sing, you stick to a certain melody, and it all sounds the same.
Question: How has the promoting been going back home in England?
Mark Barry: Fantastic. We're getting an amazing amount of airplay from radio. We're getting so much TV coverage -- I'm sure people will be getting sick of us already. But the single is out this week in England, and it's a very exciting week for all!!!
Question: Hi! Where are your ticklish spots? Love you guys! From Cara.
Mark Barry: My arms and my feet. I like getting my back tickled...that's nice. And my neck. And somebody running their fingers through my hair...I could have that done all night.
Question: Do you guys have any traditions before you perform, such as saying a prayer?
Mark Barry: We put our fists together...Christian puts his fist in and says "B", I put my fist in and say "B" and then Ste puts his fist in and says "Mak."
Question: Happy Valentine's Day, guys...our question is, will you have a valentine tomorrow?? If not, ca, we be yours?? ~ S & R
Mark Barry: No, I will not have a Valentine. Girl, will you be my valentine? Make that girls?? I'll fix you a lovely Italian meal with candles for two...me being the romantic type...
HostTPZena: We'll leave Mark Barry on that note to prep his V-day dinner...Hello, Ste!
Ste McNally: Hello, everybody. Hope everyone's OK and missing us...we're in England...because we're missing them.
Question: Do you enjoy working with each other or is just for business?
Ste McNally: We have a great time working together. We've done it for the last five years, lived together for the last five years. We get along really well; we're really close.
Question: When is your next US tour? I missed your first one.
Ste McNally: We're opening for 'Nsync in May. It's going to be great.
Question: Do you find that your old friends treat you differently?
Ste McNally: Not really. Our real friends are the same. A lot of people we've known for a long time but weren't really close to think we've changed, but it's not us that changed, it's them, really. Our real friends treat us the same.
Question: When is your next CD coming out?
Ste McNally: Hopefully, we'll go into the studio to record the next album in October, so it'll be out, probably, at the end of the year.
HostTPZena: Do you have songs written for it already?
Ste McNally: We're always writing songs, so we're off to a good start.
Question: Who was your role model growing up? Did they inspire you to sing?
Ste McNally: I looked up to my mom and dad and older brothers. I was influenced by them. Our house was very musical; we listened to all types of music. My dad inspired me to sing. He was always singing around the house. He loved singing.
Question: If you had to play one song for 24 hours straight, what would it be?
Ste McNally: For me, it'd be "Blackbird" by the Beatles. It's so melodic and the lyrics are very uplifting and dark at the same time. The song is like light and dark; it's happy and it's sad.
HostTPZena: I wish we had more time to spend, but our time is through...thank you so much for joining us!
Ste McNally: Thank you. Our new single will hopefully be out in May -- "Ghost of You and Me." We can't wait to come back to the US and start the tour with 'Nsync. We're having a good time touring in the UK, but we miss being in the US. Thanks for all the support.
HostTPZena: And keep voting for "Still on Your Side" on TRL! Thanks, audience, for joining us tonight and don't forget to check out the scoop on your favorite celebs at teenpeople.com! Good night!
