Maniyangama Raja Maha Viharaya

Maniyangama Raja Maha Viharaya exists from the 1st B.C. It had been constructed by King Walagambahu. He had devoted this place for explanatory service. In 1766, King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe renovated this viharaya and gave the priority to start the Karal Perehera (pageant), one of the bestowed cultural events steeped in ritual ceremony for several centuries. King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe had started this perehera as a mark of respect & as a remembrance of Mahiyangana Temple. There are several rock caves of height 500fts at the entrance.

Maniyangama Rajamaha Viharaya is located 60Km away from the city of nnuall, In Panawala road in Avissawella, Ruwanwella Road. Drive to Avissawella and take the Ruwanwella road. Take the road near Brandi Mosque from Maniyamgama temple junction and drive 3Km in the Panawala road.
