Monday
It is quite striking that the University of Illinois at Chicago exists in an urban setting yet has such
beautiful and peaceful nature areas.
Members of the UIC family are able to enjoy nature while on the University grounds.
The University is constantly striving to the improve the condition of its structures.
Early arriving students wait in Lecture Center F6 for the Monday program to begin.
Summer Success Seminar coordinator and English instructor Mitzi prepares for the day.
The students get ready by taking out their notebooks.
Mitzi had chosen a group of students to analyze and critique reviews written by movie critics. Here the
chosen students gather to coordinate their presentations.
Mitzi explains to the class what the students will be doing.
The students present their critiques.
The movie presented today is "Bread and Roses."
The movie finished and Mitzi began the discussion.
There was a great deal of student participation. Students brought forth many different viewpoints with regard to the movie.
Mitzi explains the next part of Monday's program.. the students are to break up into small groups. The members of the groups are to embellish the points already brought forth.
Members of one group listen as a student explains a point.
Two other groups of students take part in the discussions.
The class period is coming to an end. Mitzi gives the students instructions about the current assigment.
In an almost comical manner, the students rush to the front of the classroom, hoping to be near the front of the line to talk to Mitzi about their papers.
The students at the back of the room hurry to get to the front of the room.
Joel gives the "double thumbs up" to the camera.
Mitzi works with the students, looking at comments and offering suggestions.
Students at the end of the line wait patiently for their opportunity to speak with Mitzi.
Veronica was the final student to see Mitzi, and she makes the most of the meeting.
