is my home page. This is where you will meet me and read about the major
events that shaped my life. You will meet my family and my friends. I
prefer to call my many friends "Die Kwartels" (The Quails).
Why Quails?
I have a hearing loss and so
have many of my friends. The name "Kwartels" is derived
from the Afrikaans saying: "So doof soos 'n kwartel" (Literally
translated meaning: "As deaf as a quail"). Of course we all know
that quails are not really deaf! My friends and I like these cute little
birds and adopted the pseudonym "Kwartels" to identify
ourselves. Over time many of us also obtained Kwartel nicknames that are a
special indication of our caring for each other.
