NSL Hall of Fame Voting Process

Now that we know who made the Hall of Fame vote in Major League Baseball, it is now time to vote for members of the NSL Hall of Fame.  Congratulations to Vlad Guerrero, Jim Thome, Trevor Hoffman and Chipper Jones! This year’s NSL ballot definitely has some interesting and compelling players to choose from. Listed below are the guidelines for voting.

1.      Everyone gets 10 votes. You do not necessarily have to use all 10 your votes.

2.      A player may receive only one vote from each league member.  So, if you use all 10 of your votes, you should have chosen 10 different players.

3.      To gain inclusion into the Hall of Fame, a player must attain 75% of the vote from league members. (18 of the 24 franchises must vote for the individual player.)

4.      In the past we used a system that included automatic votes for begin named an all-star or all-league.  Remember, that in recent years players no longer get those automatic votes.

Rich’s monologues can be found on the league website.  I do miss the days of getting the hard copies. (they made for great bathroom reading) If you would still like a hard copy, please give me shout. Enjoy reading them! It’s always fun to look back on former players and their accomplishments. Please try to look at other valuable assets that a player may have had during his NSL career besides his stats. This year, there was a lot of chatter about the career of Omar Vizquel and his worthiness as a MLB Hall of Famer. Vizquel received 37% of votes this year and a lot of experts expect that to climb in the future.

Deadline for your ballot is February 12th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a shout.

Enjoy the monologues and voting!
