Tricksy Goblinses
This session opened with a daring attempt by Luthor and Camthalion to penetrate the defenses of the sprawling goblin encampment, which they discovered actually took up a sizable portion of a valley. Doing his best to look feral and intimidating, Luthor demanded entry into the camp in the name of his giant clan, which momentarily stopped the hail of archer fire at him from the nearest tower. Meanwhile, Camthalion circled around the valley and entered the camp from the west side.
Luthor's bluff seemed to be making good headway, and he was introduced to Grashak, the goblin leader, who bade him welcome to the camp. Unfortunately for our adventurers, as Luthor entered the camp, he was stabbed in the back by a goblin rogue, and captured. Meanwhile, Camthalion had not hid himself as well as he thought he had within the camp, and four goblins with spears stood between him and the exit. Realizing that his one great advantage - surprise - was now blown, Camthalion cut a hasty exit out, dispatching three goblins and forcing the fourth to flee. Struck several times by arrows from the now-observant guard tower archers, he barely escaped into the wilderness.
Meanwhile, the main party met in town, adding Graylyne and Aviannah Keels to their ranks, followed Luthor's tracks down into the valley, and encountered a goblin patrol. Thanks to the sharpshooting of Asherha and Graylyne, and a spectacularly well-placed color spray by Resdin, the goblins were taken out before they even had a chance to react. One fled, but was hunted down and exterminated by the halfling ranger and the rogue. It was at this point that Camthalion met up with the group again, bearing news of the failed gambit and Luthor's capture. He was healed by the cleric of Larue. Gakar, the druid who had fled before, and the clerics Morena and Althen were not present, having been left in town.
The paladin Aerlene, attemping to detect evil, finally realized that not all in the party were pure of heart, and after some discussion regretfully concluded that she would have to leave, for those in the party were not so evil as to deserve death. Additionally, she was beginning to notice several of the party's tactics, such as cutting the throats of helpless enemies, that did not sit well with her code of ethics. The decision was made that she would leave in the morning to find some other evil to thwart.
Responding to suggestions laid out by Resdin, the party camped far from the road, and set up watches consisting of two people each.
Each party member present received 300 xp, modified by whatever number the DM assigned to players based on RP.
