The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain

“WoW! After talking with CCI workers and IB maintenance, I am more excited. This may be as surprising as the CornBall was!!!”
David Wynn – 25 year Indiana Beach employee.

Superstition Mountain was built in 1979. The ride has provided thousands each year with its unique thrills, but now it sits in disarray. The station for the Superstition Mountain is gone, much of the track has been removed and the 3rd and 2nd floor rooms have been gutted. Eventually CCI will work their magic and turn this old building into a new thrill. This ride will have a vertical lift that rises above the mountain, reaching heights of 40 feet. A holding brake at the top of lift will detain riders until the car gets clearance. The ride will connect with existing track that extends over the water by the Antique Auto ride. After the water drop the coaster will enter the 3rd floor and coast throughout the building. Area has been cleared at the back of the Mountain where the ride will exit and reenter the Mountain through new openings. Some elements within the ride will remain like the spinning tunnel and the train and the end of the ride. The track will consist of 5 layer laminated wood and be somewhere between 1000-1200 ft. long and reach speeds of 30 to 40 mph.

Here you will also see photos of the Hoosier Hurricane. Portions of The Hoosier Hurricane, which was built in '94, are being retracked. Some sections are being retracked for the first time.
