We believe that in order for any ministry to be biblically sound and thereby within God’s will, its structure must be in accordance with those examples put forth in scripture. For this reason, this mission corps shall be governed by a panel of elders chosen from among the affiliate membership, who shall oversee the various needs of the group.
On this panel, one man shall be responsible for each area of concern to the mission corps. The elders shall hold the responsibility of maintaining sound, biblical functioning within this body of believers and to serve as bishops, overseeing the day-to-day functions of the corps.
Associate members, be they churches, ministries or individuals shall hold the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the only sacred guidepost in life, be fundamental in belief, have committed to engaging in an evangelical work, be in agreement with the words of this mission corps’ faith covenant and, after a review of their individual belief statement by the elders hereof, shall have applied to and been accepted as members.
Affiliate members shall meet those requirements set forth for associate members and shall have enrolled in Armor of Light Missionary Academy and complete the requirements for "basic team member." For a better explanation of the degrees of membership, please see the note on Structural Changes.
We believe that the Church is the body and the espoused bride of Christ and a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age. We also believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures and that said scripture indicates God’s intent for the autonomy of the local church.
For this reason, the churches and ministries involved in this Christian fellowship shall each be autonomous and self-governing in all matters. In the case of individual membership, said individuals will be required to submit to the authority of the elders and pastor of a member church or ministry or to that of the elders of this mission corps.
The primary evangelical work of this mission corps shall be undertaken by individual members, working under the direction of their local elders. These shall be born-again, Bible believing Christians, who have heard the call of Christ to serve as evangelists and missionaries and specifically those who have on their hearts the calling to seek to reach those individuals whom the modern, denominational churches have elected to overlook, forget and ignore.
These individuals shall engage in an organized outreach effort in communities and groups to which most Christians would not attempt to reach out. They shall seek out methods of witnessing specifically to drug addicts, alcoholics, gang members and those individuals tied down in unbiblical doctrines. These individuals shall not operate as “lone gunmen,” but shall always work under the immediate supervision of either the elders in a church or ministry belonging to this mission corps or the direction of the elders of this fellowship.
