1
PF Nemanja Aleksandrov - Spurs GM has let it be known that Aleksandrov will be the #1 pick if he lands it. Spurs are going to need a SF since in all likelyhood SAR will be let go in order to make an offer for Kobe or Curry.
2
C Johan Petro - Spurs seem to be high on this 19 year old center. With no clear superstar at center or SG in this draft, look for the Spurs to trade down in the draft from the #2 position.
3
PG Chris Paul - With three possible lotto picks in this draft, the Bucks cannot screw up in this draft. With many needs, this team needs to lock up their PG of the future. He's a pure PG that will also be a nice scorer in a few seasons.
4
C Martynas Andriuskevicius - Expect another playoff-less season if the Pacers cannot get a decent big man. Andriuskevicius gives them an excellent scorer and rebounder, and allows them to move Foster to PF if they can't find a replacement.
5
SF Charlie Villanueva - Needs in this draft include any position not occupied by Elton Brand. Drafting Villanueva gives this low scoring team a great scorer, and a guy with huge upside. Could be a scary player after training camp.
6
C Andray Blatche - Marc Jackson clearly is not the center of the future for this team, so Blatche is a smart pick even though this may be too high. Do not be too surprised if the Rockets trade down and snag this guy with a late lotto pick.
7
PF Wayne Simien - So many options with this pick. Rasho is one of the few bright spots on this team nearly averaging a double-double, so a center may not be needed. SF is needed, but no SF available is worth taking this high. Drafting Simien gives the team another young, quality player. Look for Swift or Rasho to be traded if Simien is drafted, or a trade is possible with this pick.
8
PF Torin Francis - With Vin Baker in the last year of his contract, the Grizz need to spend one of their many picks on a PF. No player has seen his stock rise as much as Torin Francis has. This skilled PF has mved from outside of top 20 to a solid lotto pick.
9
SG Louis Williams - With David Wesley likely wanting too much money this offseason, the Nuggets are going to need a SG. Williams could take over the starting SG position and flourish as a scorer. Drafting a PG is also possible if they decide to let Troy Hudson walk.
10
SG J.R. Giddens - Assumng that this team is set with Kandi and Swift as their starting frontcourt, drafting a SG makes sense. Giddens and Gordon would give this team a good, young backcourt, that is unless they enter the Kobe or Ray Allen sweepstakes.
11
SF Hakim Warrick - Top priorities this offseason will be to resign Kwame and Camby, but this team needs a SF if it wishes to compete in the East. Warrick is the best SF on the board, and could develop into a solid starter.
12
C Yi Jianlian - Blazers' needs include C, SF, and SG. With no SF's or SG's worthy of a lotto pick this late, Jianlian could get taken. He can score, and defend pretty well.
13
PG Jay Williams - Already drafting a SG with the ninth pick, Nuggets get their PG here. Jay Williams has put the motorcycle incident behind him, and will a solid PG for this young team. If PG isn't that the Nuggets are looking for at 13, then look for one of their forwards and the pick to be packaged for a center.
14
SF Marvin Williams -With their third pick in the first round, look for the Bucks to get a SF. Williams is the best available, and at only 18 years of age, has a lot of potential. Paul-Jones-Williams-Simien-Swift/Rasho gives this team a starting lineup better suited to compete night in and night out.
15
PF Sani Ibrahim - At 6-10, Sani can play center or PF for the grizz. He could offer more depth, or could possibly take over the starting center spot if the Grizz cannot afford to resign Mihm. Drafting a SF is also a possibility, but that position is weak in this draft.
16
SG Rashad McCants -If Glenn Robinson cannot be resigned, the Deng will move back to SF and a SG will be needed. McCants is the best available SG, and a solid one at that. He can score and defend pretty well. With so many picks in the draft, do not be too surprised if the Grizz package two or three of their mid round picks to pick up another lotto pick.
17
PG Raymond Felton - Unless the Clippers take him at #5 or a team moves up in the draft, Felton could very well fall to the Kings. There just are not that many teams in need of a PG in this draft, even though Felton is lotto quality. With Christie getting older, Kings need to start a search for their PG of the future.
18
SF Ivan Chiriaev - By this point in the draft, it will be tough telling exactly what the Grizzlies will need. But like most teams, the Grizz are intrigued by the 7-1 SF and could maybe take a chance on him. Once again, this pick could/should be traded.
19
PF Ike Diogu - With few needs in this offseason, the Knicks just need depth. They will be hard pressed to find a better player at #19 than Diogu, who has seen his stock fall a bit this past month.
20
PG Aaron Miles - Unless the Clippers are content with Brevin Knight at the PG spot, then the Clippers will need to get a PG. Miles is a true PG with excellent handles and could develop into one of the best PG's in this draft.
21
SG BJ Elder - Clippers desperately need a SG in this draft unless they plan to chase after a stud FA. Elder is one of the best shooting guards left at this spot, but at the age of 24, one has to question if this guy has already maxed out his potential.
22
SG Hassan Adams - With pretty good starters and depth at other positions, the Pistons bring in another SG to comepete for the starting job with Giddens assuming Kobe or Ray Allen resign with their respective teams. Which ever SG that doesn't win the starting job will make a fine backup.
23
PF Shelden Williams - Needing a backup PF, or possibly just insurance in case they cannot resign AK-47, Jazz get this PF from Duke. He can score and rebound, something all teams can use.
24
SF Leon Powe - Not sure if this player will fall this far, but if he does, the Blazers get a very good player. Depending on which FA's they have their sights on, Powe could come in and start at SF from day one. This guys is a steal.
25
PF Lawrence Roberts - Clippers GM obviously loves his current undersized PF, and now he has two. Roberts is only 6-8, yet this guy can still score and rebound. Assuming the Clippers let Marshall go into free agency, the Clippers will need a quality backup PF.
26
PF Tahirou Sani - The Hornets need a PF unless they are content with Pollard there. Sani can score down low, but also has good range. Other needs inlcude SF, so do not be surprised to see a SF here, or a trade.
27
PG Shannon Brown - Grizz just add another body and depth to their team here. Brown can play backup to TJ Ford, but may also get some time at backup SG with his outside shot and defense. Also, seeing as this is the Grizzlies' fourth pick outside the lottery, look for this pick to maybe be involved in a trade.
28
SF Uros Slokar - Regradless of free agency signings, the Lakers will need a SF. Slokar could start if he had to, but would also serve as a quality backup to the Lakers.
29
SF Ryan Gomes - With the last pick in the first round, the Hawks draft a backup SF. There are probably no players available that could come in and start for the Hawks right away. So with Bruce Bowen a free agent at the end of the year, Hawks lock up a backup.
