Hector's beaked whale
Mesoplodon hectori
AKA: New Zealand beaked whale, skew-beaked whale
Hector's beaked whales are dark gray to brown with light undersides and have two teeth that can be seen when the mouth is closed in both sexes. They can grow to about 4.5 meters and may be found in temperate waters worldwide. Hector's beaked whales eat mostly squid.
