BRCD afghans-lapghansWe now have a group of women (no men yet… but hoping some will join us!) who are taking part in creating afghans and lapghans for each and every bed in our new nursing home. With the help of so many hands it will not be hard to accomplish this task before the grand opening in February 2006…

So far the fellowship of hook & needle has included: Ruth Angus, Edna Charbonneau, Natasha Corr, Helen Hanson, Irene King, Fern Kirwin, Margaret Manning, Kay McArthur, Audrey Milligan, and Margaret Reid Trying their hand with crochet hook and yarn this past week were, Maria Malinsky, Elaine Boroday, Elizabeth Landry, and Timothea Leung How can you help? Come crochet some squares, well not really granny squares, granny hexagons actually, they have 6 sides, maybe we can find another name for them… or you can crochet the finished ones together to make a lapghan or afghan… Can’t crochet? Can you knit? You could join Irene King in knitting up individual lapghans or afghans… |

Can’t crochet? Can you knit? You could join Irene King in knitting up individual lapghans or afghans… Can’t crochet? Can’t knit? If you have some sewing skills and LOTS, and I do mean LOTS of patience you can be part of a special circle of wonderful ladies who do the hardest job of all – weaving in the ends! Just ask Edna Charbonneau, Irene king, and Fern Kirwin… |

Can’t crochet? Can’t knit? Can’t weave in the ends? Maybe you can contribute in other ways… we can always use donations of crochet hooks (there are never enough of those around – somehow they seem to disappear), knitting needles, sharp wool needles, and last but not least yarn! We can use any amount of yarn… a bagful would be nice, but even a small amount can be used… only 5 meters of yarn will make a centre of the granny hexagon, so if you have small bits left over, we’ll be happy to get them… Can’t crochet? Can’t knit? Can’t weave in the ends? Can’t donate anything? Come join us for the fellowship and volunteer to serve refreshments for the hard working crocheters/knitters/weaver-in-ers!
