Subject : Savoy/Greece Royal Engagement!

Dear Subscribers and Friends,

It is filled with joy that we pass along to you the
announcement of the
engagement between HRH Prince Aimone of Savoy-Aosta,
Duke of Apulia,
and HRH Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark.

This wonderful event was first rumored at the end of
last year, now it
is official!  HRH The Duke of Aosta announced it
yesterday through his
website:

http://www.savoia-aosta.it/

Prince Aimone and Princess Olga are related through
several
connections.  Firstly, Aimone's father, the Duke of
Aosta, is the only
son of the late Princess Irene of Greece (1904-1974),
who was a first
cousin of Prince Michael of Greece, Princess Olga's
father. Both Irene
and Michael are among the grandchildren of King George
I of the
Hellenes and his wife, Grand Duchess Olga
Konstantinovna of Russia (for
more information on her refer to THE GRAND DUCHESSES;
DAUGHTERS AND
GRANDDAUGHTERS OF RUSSIA'S TSARS - Eurohistory, 2004).

Secondly, the Duke of Aosta, is the grandson of
Princess Hélène
d'Orléans (for more information on her read ERHJ Issue
43 - February
2005), while Prince Michael of Greece is the son of
Princess Françoise
d'Orléans, a daughter of Princess Isabelle d'Orléans,
who was the
younger sister of Princess Hélène d'Orléans.  This
makes the Duke of
Aosta and Prince Michael of Greece first cousins on
their mothers'
side.

Thirdly, Prince Aimone (the Groom) is the son of
Princess Claude de
France, whose father was the late Count of Paris.  The
late Count in
turn was a brother of Princess Françoise d'Orléans,
who happened to be
the mother of Prince Michael of Greece and thus
grandmother to Princess
OLga, (the Bride).

Attached you will find some images of the Bride and
Groom, as well as
their families. We have also included ancestors' list
for both Olga and
Aimone, showing only their royal ancestry.
