Sharks: An Endangered Species?
Yes, sharks are an endangered species. The reason why; fear, revenge, and overfishing. Fear has caused people to kill sharks to make themselves feel more powerful. Revenge has caused people to kill sharks to lessen their sorrows for the victim of the attack. (Note: usually more than one shark is killed for every single human attacked in a shark attack.) Overfishing is self-explanatory, except for the fact that 300,000 sharks are killed every year.

The reason why these factors play such an impact on sharks is mainly due to their slow growth. It may take seven years or more for sharks to reach sexual maturity. Plus, each time they mate, only one to five pup, as they are called, are produced, as compared to bony fish which can produce up to 300,000 or more fry. Most people don't realize this, but its true.

So in conclusion, yes, with these facts presented, sharks are an endangered species.
