The shop portion of the basement remains unfinished with poured concrete walls and floor and an unfinished open joist ceiling. The other side of the basement is completely insulated with fiberglass and foam insulation, 2x4 stud walls with 1/2 inch drywall on all walls. The woodburner is totally surrounded below, above and behind with 12 inch ceramic tile, makes the heat radiate out real nice. I installed a dropped ceiling at approximately 7 foot 3 inches from the floor. It's nice and insulates the basement from the upstairs pretty good. I built a nice oak audio/video equipment rack that I recessed into the wall. It holds all equipment plus over 100 dvds, vhs tapes and cds. I installed a nice kitchenette complete with oak cabinets, small refrigerator and filtered water. I've also installed a bathroom between the shop and the home theatre room with access from both sides. The floor in the finished part of the basement is a simulated wood commercial rubber tile floor. It should last forever. It is the same type of floor used in Tractor Supply Stores all over the country. I plan on adding a few more instruments to my audio room as well as a mixer board and a pa system and microphones for my drums.
