My Pygmy Goats

These are my Pygmy Goats. Well, actually, my sister and I have one each. This is just to let you know a little about me, and yes, these are real pictures. In this, I'll tell you a little bit about my goat's personalities, and I will tell you how to take care of your Pygmy Goats. I will put some more photos on later. Enjoy!

This is my goat,Zoom. He thinks he's Mr. Stud Muffin and he has to dominate everything! I'll tell you a little bit about Zoom's history now. We bought him when he was 2 months old in September, 1999. We also bought his brother, Carmello. On the way home they were scared to death of me because I had ridden with them the whole way back from the place that we got them from. For 2 months we watched them butt and play together, but one night, I noticed that Carmello wasn't eating, and that Zoom was butting him away from it. For the past months I noticed, also, that Carmello was 6 inches shorter than Zoom. Anyway, I knew that Carmello not eating food was not a healthy looking thing because if animals are keeping other animals away from the food, or the animals are not eating food, that usually means that they're going to die. The next day, I went out to feed them. The date was December 7, 1999. The goats weren't coming out of the house. I knew this wasn't like them. They'd do anything for food. So, I looked into their house. Carmello was lying by the door not moving at all. His eyes were wide open, but they weren't blinking. I could tell that Zoom was heart broken because they were the best of friends. Zoom was alone now. I started weeping. It's terrible to see one of your buddies lying on the floor dead. I wished that I wouldn't have found him. I dragged him out into the snow. My mother looked out the window. She saw the corpse lying in the snow and me crying up the path to the garage. I went inside and she was right there. She hugged me and everything broke loose. My dad heared me and came to the laundry room too. Carmello was my sister's goat, but she didn't know about it at the time. When my sister came out, my parents told her the bad news, but she didn't cry. She went back to her bedroom and stayed there for about an hour. Zoom lived through the winter. In the spring we got him a new buddy to play with. Here is a video that I took of him not too long ago.

This is Electra, my sister's goat. She is very sweet and mellow. Yet, she is extremely hard to take on a walk. When we brought her home in April 1999, she was the loudest most annoying thing around the house! When we let her go in her new pen, we thought something was wrong with her because she kept running into the fence constantly, but finally she stopped after about 20 tries of getting out of the fencing. When Zoom found her in his pen, he showed her that he was going to be the boss. She accepted it and they have become the best of friends. Before we got her, Zoom had hardly anything to do. Electra was kind of like his "life-saver". We are gettting her bred sometime in October because we know that she would be an excellent mother because of her patience, mellowness, and kindness.

This is Nebula. I finally got my new baby goat in April. She is so sweet! That's because we have to bottle feed her. My sister and I take turns every other day of feeding her even though she's really my goat. Everywhere we go she wants to go. We have to watch out though because she does like to eat everything that's on you. One time, (this has happend three times now) Nebula was chewing on my sister's finger, and accidentally bit her a little too hard because my sister's finger was bleeding. As you can tell from the pictures of her, she has a lot of character. She loves to sleep on top of the old dog house. Since I have made the mistake of buying Zoom for a show goat, I got her. She looks much better than him. When we first saw Nebula, she was only two days old. She was being bottle fed then too. The former owner told us that the mother wouldn't feed her, but would only feed her sister. She would even try to milk the mother, but she would sit down. I guess the mother was thinking,"Whichever one comes out first is the one I'm taking care of." Then, we went to see Nebula's father. She's the spitting image of him! Her former owner told us that she really wasn't planning to have baby goats at all. She said her husband put all of the goats (including Nebula's father) into the same pen for a day. So, Nebula's mother and half sister had kids. Her sister's little kid was inbred. He was perfect though, but I didn't want a wether.
